Worked on some smaller things on the ole game tonight. One thing that bugged me was the compact pistol when spawned from a treasure chest didn't have great contrast with the floor, so I updated the sprite for it. Shows up a bit better now.

I just updated something in my game that I know nobody cares about but it bugged me.

The in game equivalent of the p90 was ejecting bullet casings upwards, like most guns do IRL, and they look cooler that way. But the real one ejects downwards. And now it does that in game too!

I was poking around in my game files, thinking of things to add/fix after not looking at the code for a while. Some of my folder names crack me up.

A folder named "Things". This would sound kind of evasive or suspicious outside of gamedev.

What's in there? Things.

I just did a dragon warrior playthrough. One of the more annoying things in the game is when NPC's walk in your way, blocking a door, a shopkeep, stairs, whatever. And you just have to wait until they wander out of the way.

I was today years old when I learned that there's a flag to ensure a signal does the connected thing only ONCE! Super useful! #godotengine

Every prompt to chatbot software is “generate me some text.” If it generated you some text, it performed its function correctly. It never lies, it never wants anything, it’s text generating software that generates text.
Not wanting to disappoint you so much that it lies is the last quality I want in a computer.

One of the things I love about OG dragon warrior (dragon quest to most of the world), you can see the final castle right from the starting place on the overworld map. I like that a lot.

Interesting thing when listening to gamedev podcasts (audio) when I haven't seen the game yet. Sometimes the description of the game doesn't really capture my imagination, but then I hear it did real numbers. What's going on here?

Then I look at the actual game and it's beautiful. Oh, that's why.
