Exactly 💯 right
Australians are being played for mugs by @albomp.bsky.social
@australianlabor.bsky.social Govt.
Proposed environmental protection reforms will principally protect its Labor mates in WA, SA & NSW- who want to steamroll the environment & approve a truckload of (fossil fuel) resource projects
#auspol
Australians voted for stronger climate action, not weaker environment laws.

Australia Institute research shows that Australia is currently expanding gas and coal, with 94 new fossil fuel projects under development.

Sign our petition calling on Minister Watt to stop new gas and coal!

When you see Mamdani looking all normal doing normal person things—petting bodega cats, riding public transport—you realize just how bizarre and estranged our average candidate for public office is. Rich martians in flesh suits

A "serious power" is not an acceptable euphemism for breaching the right to due process.

The list of groups opposing this move is growing, with NATSILS, the Australian Council of Social Services and Economic Justice Australia speaking out today.

Thank you @joshbutler.bsky.social for reporting.
Raising the rate of jobseeker seems so easy, but he just won't contemplate it

A few previously unreported bits in here:
- 68000 Aussies in the Discord leak.
- Information Commissioner’s office unsuccessfully sought powers to proactively investigate social media companies handling of age check data
- Privacy Commissioner worried about scams b/c people used to handing over ID
The teen social media ban hasn't begun but already Australians have been exposed in a social media platform's ID breach.

The privacy commissioner says it "goes to many of the concerns that Australians already hold about the looming age assurance scheme."

This is the dumbest shit from the AFR.

Bracket creep doesn't deter people from trying to earn more...

If your wage goes up, you still get paid more.

Over the years, for work reasons, I've interviewed maybe 2-3,000 people about their income, finances, and banking. From benefits recipients through to very high income earners. Nobody has ever said: I'd prefer not to earn more because I'm at the tax bracket threshold.

Can we just call Labor Liberals now? Please?
Labor are sneaking through extraordinary powers to let police and ASIO cut peoples welfare if they’ve been charged with a crime.

This is an unacceptable power grab, and will harm families and partners of people reliant on payments to survive.

The last-minute additions have been called into question, with advocates arguing they set a "dangerous precedent".

ICE type raids on immigrants in the dead of night and a ticket to Nauru.
Expanded police powers, genocide collaboration, robbing the people, expanding fossil fuels. Expanding military contracts.

police understand this well. Look at the new police powers to harm people living in poverty. Facing “serious” charges opens up whole new categories of state harm. That’s why police pile up charges on some and protect others from additional and collateral consequences.

It's funny that there are still people on here who think Israelis shouldn't be held to account in the international legal fora because of some so called independent judiciary. The judiciary is a subsidiary of the occupation system. Take a look at the timeline of events below re: Sde Teiman rape.
Allow me to summarize:
1. 5 IDF soldiers caught sexually molesting a Palestinian prisoner.
2. IDF files charges.
3. IDF AG faces enormous pressure from government to drop charges. Mob storms base where it happened.
4. IDF AG leaks video documenting the molestation.
5. IDF AG pushed out (continued)
IDF's legal chief resigns over suspected involvement in Gaza detainee abuse video leak

On further reflection, handing operation of our Universities over to a professional administrative class with no personal investment in the educational mission of the university or the creation and maintenance of knowledge might have been somewhat in error.
Does this include his old army mate who's wrapped up in the Robodebt scandal Kathryn Campbell? Will he recuse himself from that or are those Robodebt Royal Commission recommendations for corruption in the rear view mirror now?

It's a minor concession from Brereton.

The key bit:
"recent attention the Commissioner’s Defence service and connections have attracted in some quarters has become a distraction from the Commission’s work."

So he's not taking responsibility; it's our fault for drawing attention to it! 🙄 #NACC
BREAKING: NACC Commissioner finally bows to public pressure and steps aside from all defence-related corruption referrals.

This is a major-general backdown from Commissioner Brereton who, up until now, tried to stare down the growing public revolt over the conflicts of interest.

heard back after making a formal complaint - they will reimburse me for the new walking stick with specialist fitting, and have apologised - main reason I got this is that my meltdown and experience was all on cctv, so more people got to watch. awesome
always love having to buy a new mobility aid after travel

[melbourne airport took apart my walking stick, didn't return it, and left me stranded away from bags and stick. random person rescued pieces of stick and bags and sat with me during meltdown to put stick back together enough to get home]
