This report from ACOSS & UNSW reveals a shocking reality. Since 2020, hundreds of thousands more have fallen below the poverty line. 3.5 million Australians now struggle to pay rent, put food on the table, and cover basic living costs. This is unacceptable.

DEWR sought an assurance report on the Targeted Compliance Framework. They got it. It told them clearly that the TCF could NOT be assured. And yet the government continues to administer this unlawful system so it can suspend income support payments for bullshit reasons.

Rationing is why we have waitlists - currently around 200,000 are waiting on home care. The Royal Commission said instead that we should have places for everyone that needs care. Labor have ignored this, and would rather let some older people die than cough up to look after them

As chair of the aged care inquiry, I’m pleased the committee has agreed to this important step. Mandating shortages of care should be unthinkable in a country like Australia, let alone deliberate government policy.

Stop ‘rationing’ aged care and end the wait lists - that’s what a majority of Senators in our Aged Care Inquiry have agreed to work towards.

Sadly, Labor disagreed and voted to ensure enforced shortages meaning people die waiting 12mo+ for care.
