Hello Bluesky, I’m iain, Irishman living in Malaysia. I used to review movies online and on the radio here, I write occasionally and do VoiceOvers too. Oh and I’m also an IT project manager and accidentally became a CTO in my last job. 🤷‍♂️ I’m freelancing now. I post a lot of food pics.

Seeing game devs take a "the customer is always right" approach to feedback is so sad because like I get it from a PR perspective, but...

1) The customer is always wrong

2) Your customers are gamers, so they're twice as wrong

i struggle with a brain that wants to stiffly copy whatever reference i'm using and one thing i've found helpful:
1. draw big blocky shapes over the reference
2. turn off ref and redraw big blocky shapes
3. draw in figure with big blocky shapes overlaid
Traducir post photo of model posing as an elegant elf woman that ive blocked out with a chunky red brush in a separate window ive redrawn the red blocks, then have drawn details over the red blocks, using the photo+red transparency as reference final doodle of the figure drawing without the red blocking

Art friends: Here's a tip for getting rid of *a lot* of the AI slop in your Pinterest feed.

⭐Go into your account settings.
⭐Click the "Refine your recommendations" tab.
⭐Click the GenAI Interests subtab.
⭐TURN OFF EVERYTHING.

So far, my feed is *significantly* cleaner.
Screenshot of the Pinterest settings menu. The option "Refine your recommendations" is circled. Screengrab of the Refine Your Recommendations tab in Pinterest's settings. The subtab GenAI Interests is circled.
Below, all options have been turned off.

It’s less than the bare minimum for Democrats to say that anyone everyone still employed in IRS enforcement when this starts should expect to go to prison if they take power.

Again, it is a full-blown federal felony crime for anyone in the White House or Executive Office of the President to order tax investigations into anyone.

And it's not just a crime to DO it, it's even a federal crime for an employee not to REPORT such an order to the Treasury Inspector General.

Hey! FYI we use alt text on our images here. There's a switch you can flip in settings that'll keep you from posting until your media has alt text. It's super important! Welcome to bluesky, the user base is inclusive and good. You won't get much engagement if you don't use it! Further explanation 👇

Hi! You're seeing this because someone noticed you posting an image that doesn't contain alt text. This is not a scolding! You are loved! But everyone needs to be convinced using alt text is socially mandatory. (I sure had to be shown the way as well!) Would you mind reading this🧵 about it and why?

I bid him farewell and continued my run (I had to get out and back before heading to work, even after being let go, I can’t help myself)
On the run back, he was gone. That’s my good deed for the day done. Let’s see if karma helps with the job search.

He was a tiny Chinese Malaysian. As a hulking big Irish man , there was only one thing I could do….I jumped up on the tire iron and bounced until the bolt loosened… he was too small to put enough weight on the Tyre iron. We had all four off in a jiffy.
mcnastyprime.bsky.social
Taking out my headphones he Hawas asking if I knew how to change a tire. Still suspicious i turned to go, but then turned back to take a look. I have changed exactly 1 tyre in my life, years after my dad showed me how. This guy couldn’t get the bolts on the flat tyre loose. Then I looked at him.

As it was a bit of a shock getting laid off on Tuesday I forgot to start the #NoticePeriodDiaries yesterday with this tale: went fir a run to burn stress (I’m running a lot these days) and a man tried to stop me in the slip road outside the condo. This is rarely good in Malaysia.

I do find it weird that there's all these "life was better in the 80s/90s" and I'm like, I grew up in the 80s/90s, it was super racist/misogynist, both in person to me and in culture. People were SO MAD at a black or female leads in Star Trek.

The Lilith Fair documentary covers this really well.

Like this is me personally but I think you're fooling yourselves if you think there was ever a moment in American history when white people were subtle about their racism.

@nancyayoussef.bsky.social called it a “sad day for those who support a free press.”
