Truly! As you and other have stated in this thread, the insidious belief that children do not deserve agency is so damaging. Also, it is an honor to be given a nickname by a kid! (And, also: You can't just make up your own nickname, it has to be earned. Springsteen did not call himself "The Boss"!)

Ugh. My maternal grandfather (who was awful) tried to insist that my brother and I call him and his wife (who made a point to say to my face when I was 6 that we were not her grandchildren) "grandmother and grandfather." Nope, we called them generic "grandma and grandpa" and they HATED it.

15 US states and territories have formed a new Public Health Alliance, which will counter the absence of federal leadership by tracking outbreaks, issuing guidance, buying vaccines and more.

Members of the new alliance include CA, CO, CT, DE, GU, HI, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, NC, OR, RI, WA.

This week in 1988: 1,000+ ACT UP demonstrators shut down the FDA headquarters, demanding (and eventually winning) action on developing HIV/AIDS treatments. ACT UP's militant and creative actions always included powerful visual artwork, and paved the way for movements in the decades to come.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

The thing about health disinformation is that when it comes from the highest office, people believe it. Parents & pregnant women want to do the right thing but are now making health decisions based on fear.
This is causing real harm.
It's also making our jobs as healthcare professionals harder.

UPDATE: 25 states plus DC have taken actions to protect COVID-19 vaccine access.

Two regional public health alliances have formed: The Northeast Public Health Collaborative and the West Coast Health Alliance.

There are several midwest and mountain states who have collaboration potential.
