I say this every NBA trade deadline, but if I ever have to learn what a trade exception is or how to calculate it for my job, I swear to God I am going to hunt down everyone who rooted for a salary cap in MLB and fill the air vents in their cars with bees
If I'm counting it all up right, the Grizzlies have turned Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. into Cedric Coward, five first-round picks (plus a swap), about $17.5M in expiring contracts and the biggest trade exception in NBA history. Lots of raw materials to work with, at least.

After watching THE TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE last night, the subway car I’m about to take is delayed because its breaks were activated.

Many thanks for the kind words on this, the final article of my annual Hall of Fame coverage @fangraphs.com. And huge thanks to @megrowler.fangraphs.com and @mattmartell.fangraphs.com for wrangling my many, many words on the candidates throughout the cycle and improving each piece.

Should’ve gone for two on the last touchdown to make it a 3-point game

That’s a lucky no call. When I saw it live, I thought it was uncatchable. In slow motion, it looked like a bad no call. Still, the Seahawks got away with a few penalties that weren’t called earlier

The difference here is he ran over to the sideline, was warned, then continued taunt. That’s not a celebration in the moment. It’s a penalty, a clear violation of the rules.
Our youth has been SAVED by that taunting call. Thank GOODNESS. The children are PROTECTED.

Xavier Smith, what are you doing???????????????????
January 26, 2026 at 1:29 AM
Missed two penalty calls on that drive. Adams got held on the second down pass at the break in his route, and then Stafford obviously had his facemask yanked. We should still have the ball. Terrible officiating

Worth noting that one reason you’re benefitting so fully from the Star-Tribune’s timely, extensive coverage of unfolding events is that it’s a metro newspaper that hasn’t been systematically starved to further enrich shareholders and executives.

Gary, Ron and Keith’s telecasts wouldn't be as revered if not for the cinematic visuals of @johndemarsico.bsky.social.

The SNY crew was really Gary, Ron, Keith and John. What a loss for not just Mets fans, but for all of us who tuned in to the best broadcast in sports.

Baseball is cinema forever!
@johndemarsico.bsky.social just announced on Twitter that he he is no longer directing games for SNY. Most devastating loss of the offseason by far!

DHS just sent another statement about ICE’s abduction of a 5-year-old in Minnesota.

They didn’t address my question about whether the child was moved to Texas. They also didn’t provide any evidence for their claims.

They are, however, claiming the child’s “alleged mother” actually abandoned him.

There’s a lot to celebrate with these Oscar noms. SINNERS deserves all 16. Delroy Lindo and Wunmi Mosaku weren’t guaranteed and got in. That’s great! But I’m baffled by the Chase Infiniti snub. She goes toe to toe with Leo and Penn and is the heart of OBAA’s final 2 acts. It doesn’t work without her

I would support this
The Yankees could really use a RH catcher and there just aren't many out there, and what I'm saying is: bring back Gary Sánchez

Broken Record: Dodgers Land Top Free Agent Kyle Tucker While Setting a New Contract Standard
Even with deferrals, the going-on-29-year-old right fielder has outdone Juan Soto’s average annual value, albeit on a much shorter deal.

I interrupt my vacation in Mexico City to say that I, too, would sign with the back-to-back World Series champions for $240M if I could.

Don’t blame the Dodgers or Tucker. Blame your team’s owner instead.
