I bet I’ll say more about this tomorrow, either here or in my newsletter (subscribe below!), but like, it’s been a year and a half since MIND GAME came out in hardcover, and the questions and issues surrounding mental health care in elite athletes are more relevant than ever
Mental Notes
This is a way to keep up to speed on Julie Kliegman’s projects and book updates. They write about mental health in sports, transgender athletes, asexuality, and other fun and not-so-fun things.

Mamdani talking lucidly and passionately about trans rights and history in a video that should frankly shame every politician who has hemmed and hawed and triangulated and said, "Well, but sports..." It's not that hard to tell the truth and stand for what's right. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEvV...

Lol I found my literary agent on Twitter too. She emailed me after I tweeted about having narrowly escaped signing with an agent who revealed themself to be extremely racist

I signed with my agent because I tweeted the idea for a novel. He saw it, was already aware of my work, and thought it was a good time to get in touch. I used to regularly get pitches accepted because of tweets, and editors would often DM to ask "hey if you're serious about _____ lets talk."

A vast majority of Texas outlets’ coverage of queer life in the focuses on our disenfranchisement, but queer people in Texas aren’t always victims of a tragedy. Often we’re the hero, the performer, the jokester, the observer. We want to tell those stories too.
