Very good piece (Chen's reporting, which focuses on the actual *impact* of policy on the ground, is excellent across the board)

🧵This 58-year-old nurse from Maryland is seen being violently dragged along the ground by officials in Ghana.

Trump deported her there.

This abhorrent & disgusting abuse of a woman who saved American lives and cared for injured and ill Americans for 30 years.

All the details below are worse.

19 year old freshman just wants to go home for Thanksgiving to see her family, she gets deported to Honduras.

Former President of Honduras who’s serving 45 years in prison for drug trafficking?

He gets a full presidential pardon.

Both are Honduran. Only one is a criminal.

Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

I feel much safer today knowing that we deported a Babson College student back to a country where she hasn't lived since childhood.

She wasn't even flying internationally. She was flying to Texas.

I suggest something like “algo-sphere” as a term to cover this mob of right wing idiot talking heads, garbage columnists, griftfluencers, that you ONLY encounter on your phone because tech companies demand you see them.
There must be a word to use, I don’t know that “parasocial” exactly covers it, wrt how all these gross and repellent figures have entered into our psyches over the past decade or so. They make decisions that threaten to greatly affect us, we have to read or hear about them constantly. It’s not good.

Three things about the Witkoff tapes:

1) It appears Western intelligence services have decided to let Witkoff (and Trump) know they have recordings of their traitorous conversations w/Russia.

2) This Ukraine "deal" was all Witkoff's idea.

3) Congressional leaders should demand he be fired.

Man the minimalist Apple branding in tech will not die. Such a horrible message. Your friend, stripped of all uniqueness and flair, ready to give you the absolute minimum.
Yesterday my partner and I counted all the ads along Chicago's Brown Line for "Friend," a company selling an AI chatbot pendant, and tallied how many of those ads were defaced.

Still working on a longer piece on this, but here's the quick and dirty: we counted 104 "Friend" ads total, 42 defaced.
