This is disheartening because — and this is still something I find crazy but awesome — Teen Vogue has been putting out INCREDIBLE political journalism the last several years. Like, better than publications whose claim to fame is covering politics.

Cheers to everyone who made that happen. Thank you.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

If Mamdani wins I will leave New York. I will go live in one of the other 5 houses I have, perhaps the one in South Florida, or the one in Paris, or Napa, or Cabo, but I will definitely leave New York. I will keep my apartment, though, because it's awesome and New York is great. But I will leave.

Police opted not to call SIU despite running somebody over twice. A public organization with barely any oversight. www.thestar.com/news/gta/wat...
Ha ha, that’s funn…

(Remembers that it’s not even three years since John Tory resigned, he keeps hinting at running again, and before that we had a crack mayor)

Yeah, never mind, forget I said anything
You missed the bsky reaction the first time around, I guess? bsky.app/profile/mile...
respectfully, I had not seen a picture of Zohran's wife before today and I am hitting myself in the head with a hammer at this time

A few days after the presidential election one year ago, we went to Fordham Road in the Bronx.

It was a little different last week.

Abbott's joke about putting a tariff on people makes sense if you read it in the context of hoping to be able to own people again.
They’ve all gone mad.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott: “After the polls close tomorrow night, I will impose a 100% tariff on anyone moving to Texas from NYC.”

.@politico interviewed Toronto Mayor @MayorOliviaChow about @ZohranKMamdani - she advised NYC’s likely next mayor to focus on affordable housing - and her relationship with @MarkJCarney - better, certainly, than Mamani’s with Trump www.politico.com/news/magazin...
Why Zohran Mamdani May Want to Look to Toronto
Canada’s most prominent mayor is a fan — and she has some advice for the potential next mayor of New York.

This is a fun chart!

The green is the main bsky load balancer traffic throughput from Saturday night, and the purple is how much traffic there was 7 days before (the previous Saturday)

The spike is due to the world series - pretty incredible! ⚾

I dare one of these reporters to ask “you seem to not be aware, when asked about them, of many things the president says and does. Do you not pay attention to the leader of your party - is he not relevant to your interests?”

Can we all agree that when a president pardons a guy who was convicted for financing terrorists, and then says he didn't know the guy but "I was told" to pardon him, the follow question MUST be "Who told you to pardon him?" But CBS never asked: who is making decisions in the White House? 1/

You don’t get to name your kid X Æ A-12 and then say “or whatever his name is” about anyone else.
Elon Musk endorses Cuomo for mayor of New York and makes sure to add some racism in there: “…Mumdumi or whatever his name is.”

It's not in this article but the government asserts that the sandwich was thrown at "point blank range", which implies subway sandwiches have defined effective weapon ranges of varying lethality, and I would like to see the government's chart of these ranges.

...and less than 24 hours later Condé Nast has fired Lex and the rest of the Teen Vogue political desk, even as stories like this were bringing huge numbers of readers to the site
dissatisfied by the New York Times coverage of Zohran Mamdani?

great news! I talked to the guy Thursday about his campaign’s success at bringing community together beyond this election, and contextualized how it’s potentially shifted youth engagement with politics by simply listening @teenvogue.com
Zohran Mamdani's Establishment-Fighting Campaign Built Community for Young People
“What Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.”

they got me to like baseball like never before, when a few weeks ago i couldn't even tell you how baseball worked.

the good vibes & positivity from this team is infectious. it feels welcoming and warm, unlike the usual machoism in the sports world.

i'm going to be looking forward to next spring! 💙
Great piece

(FYI Davis S name is typoed in a couple of places)
An 8pm first pitch shouldn’t have been non negotiable on a weekend either though.
Would be interesting to know how many are really New Yorkers atm and not just LI/NJ/CT whiners

An enterprising journalist would collect all the names of the people who have made promises to reporters that they will move out of the city if Mamdani wins, and start contacting them in February to see if they followed through
