An easy way to explain luddites:

listening to @xplainthexmen.bsky.social and just found out via @edidin.bsky.social that the "Albert doesn't get to smoke because his rolled cigarettes keep falling apart" runner from the Hogfather TV movie was because the actor David Jason refused to smoke, and that's so incredibly nice & charming

Audience culture is the worst it's ever been, I swear to god. People forgot how to act. I'm at the theater, trying to enjoy my show, which I've paid GOOD MONEY for, and these two old assholes are in the balcony heckling the life out of the poor bear onstage. Not letting him finish a single joke.

I have not historically thought of myself as autistic but the more I learn the more convinced I am that everyone I ever met related to my grandmother is/was on the autistic spectrum.
I am seriously contemplating trying ear defenders and just showing to the next family gathering with them. Would model accomodations in case my nibling ends up wanting something in a few years.
