My Lambda Award-winning debut novel THE DEVOURERS, a dark, queer, mythic realist tale about sex, love, violence, & shapeshifting, has finally surpassed 20k sales. Those may be rookie numbers to many authors, but for me, it's a big deal, even if not big money. Sincerest gratitude to my readers 🖤

#food made phở gà using a rotisserie chicken for dinner tonight and it was a+++++ delicious (plus now all we need to do for dinner tomorrow is heat up the broth, grab some more herbs, and make more noodles).

look I'm taking the wins where I can. and sometimes the wins are soup.

does being an insufferable pedant pay well?
My mistake has been trying to explain what "fascism" is to people who don't care what it is.

So I'm going to try something else. Let's do this as a practical thought exercise.

If America *were* fascist *today* - what would you have to do differently in your daily life? /1

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

The God of Small Things absolutely blew me away, broke my heart, and taught me new narrative shapes and things i’d never seen language do before.

Arundhati Roy’s new memoir is also excellent.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

if my doctor said that i’d quit my job and start doing cocaine, but i don’t have 8 billion dependents.
If my doctor said that 2/3 of my tests shows I was going to die prematurely, I’d be quitting the beers and getting on the bike, ASAP!
(In fact I probably just should anyway)

Can Seattle put Ichiro on the ALCS roster?
The Mariners should call up a random guy from the minors to start game 1 of the ALCS just to fuck with the Blue Jays and give their guys a chance to rest.
