Yeah, in response to the AIDS Memorial Quilt, some shitheads at the University of Iowa put together the "Gerbil Quilt", which was displayed in the student union.

dailyiowan.lib.uiowa.edu/DI/1991/di19...
A "quilt" put together to mock AIDS victims.

Caption reads: "This quilt, on display in the lower level of the Union, has caused controversy over the way it satirizes the AIDS quilt. The display is sponsored by the Campus Review." PDF of the school paper article. Text reads:
"'Gerbils' quilt sparks controversy
Dean of Students Phillip Jones responds to the Campus Review's latest Union display.

Controversy has again erupted in response to the most recent Cam-pus Review display in the Union.
A "Save the Gerbils Memorial Quilt," sponsored by the Reviere, is currently on display in the cases near the Union Station dining area. The presentation includes a quilt with images of "deceased" gerbils and a report on "gerbiling an alleged sexual practice among some homosexual men.
A response to Kim Painter's June 24 Daily Jowan editorial titled "KGAN: Sex, Lies and TV News" is also included in the display. The response, written by Review contributor David Mastio, is titled "Censored by the DI."
Because of the controversy generated by the display, an open letter from Phillip Jones, dean of students, was placed in a nearby display case on July 15.
The letter, titled "Sensitivity Towards Others," states in part, "The university is a forum for the free exchange of ideas. While some views are repugnant and
despicable to others in a univer sity community, as well as to visitors to campus, the right to express those views is protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution."
According to Jones, the UI has had a number of complaints about the gerbil display, some made by visitors to campus. Freshman orientation is cur-rently bringing many parents and new students to campus and into the Union.
"The (UI) has concerns about insensitive and degrading com ments. The (UI) also has an obligation to allow all forms of expression. But the university does not have to condone degrading statements," Jones said, and added the open letter endorsed
neither point of view on the issue. The UI Department of Dance sponsored a display case in opposition to the gerbil display and included pictures of the famous AIDS quilt display in Washing ton, D.C., and a written rebuttal.

MANY ARE UPSET THAT I THINK MY REELECTION IS LOCKED UP

Why @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, @chucktingle.bsky.social et al won't is clear: they THINK their reelection is locked up. They know the Americans who care don't have another option. And the second level leadership in the party is doing what they did with Biden:

pretending nothing is wrong!

Read what you want to read and don't worry about what you "should" read. Your time is finite, books are awesome and there millions more than you can possibly read in a lifetime, there is no reason to self inflict literary suffering.

Oh, I don't know. I think you could look at his administration as equivalent. Suckers support him thinking they'll come out ahead, but the only people who win are Trump and his cronies.

Can't take credit for the awesome Amphifa logo, but the one I designed is free to use!

Here's a png with no background. You can buy sticker paper everywhere and use a normal printer to print them out!

Plus probably low cal! 😃

Lol, a friend of mine made really tasty hot and sour soup. A whole pot of it.

It was delicious, and also ran my digestive tract like it was the Indy 500.

I ate something like three bowls.

if you’re not Catholic, let me real quick tell you about the breathtaking audacity of bringing the monstrance with him

a monstrance is a big bedazzled gold ornament with a round glass window in the middle where you put a consecrated wafer, usually the bigger ceremonial one and not the bite-size

Had dinner tonight with a friend who’s a middle school teacher in the southwest. They told me schools now have trainings for when ICE agents sweep through schools to take children, and it’s worse than active shooter trainings, because it’s the government kidnapping children.

This is where we are.
