We can't just be mad about it, we have to oppose it.

True. People come with the assumption that democracy always means something good, but what's that old adage - "tyranny of the majority".

This is a joint venture. The RBNZ started chucking people out of work with Labour cosigning under their leadership. As usual National take it to a whole new level. We apparently do not want to get off this shit merry-go-round. Or even demand a better ride. Decades of declining conditions we agree to

It was essential workers who were treated like crap during Covid. "get out there and work, while we pay other people to stay home". Even bloody Trump gave everyone their stimulus checks. Not the NZ govt, nope nothing for the slaves.

Please tell me that's not the whole list of commitment to repeal?

'Politics" being patient safety, and fair pay & conditions for staff. Unionised workers are right to prioritise those things that Christopher Luxon doesn't care one iota about. Being "sorted" and all.

Then that's a very strange thing to say when you know that the success of property investing is entirely dependent on manufactured scarcity.
lotts.bsky.social
Why are you conflating two things? The goal isn't more housing is it? Because it is specifically in the interests of investors to not have enough housing.

Don't understand property investment, do you?
lotts.bsky.social
No, their preferences do not "need to be met" as long as properties are needed for homes. Permit Airbnb (if you must) when there is no longer a home problem.
lotts.bsky.social
What kind of argument is this? No one is demanding they not build more hotels. Stop using people's homes and start building more hotels.

There's still been no official independent investigation into exactly what did happen on October 7. These claims remain just feelings.

The billionaire takeover of media is designed to shield oligarchs & politicians from accountability.

It's a 50-year master plan detailed in never-before-seen documents that we're about to publish in our new book.

We preview the documents today in The Guardian.

Bari Weiss’s ascent at CBS News was 50 years in the making | David Sirota and Jared Jacang Maher
A half-century ago, CBS’s own president was boasting of his support for an antidemocratic political project. Our new book uses never-before-reported documents to tell the story of a scheme to undermin...

They couldn’t have done any of it without the centre left aiding them.

Only if you choose to never recover them.

Didn’t real bananas used to taste like that or something?

Mistake? Nope. Right on brand.

I think most working class people are aware they are getting poorer and the “communism” rhetoric is losing its power. That’s why they have to deny young people access to an open source internet after all. Of all the “lost” voters I met last election all had one thing in common, looking for fairness.

I think most people are well aware of the problem. What is lacking is a path to economic equality. We just don’t have representation willing to admit neoliberalism has failed and offer a meaningful alternative.
lotts.bsky.social
Because the “problem” requiring a solution, is the rich and the fact we simply cannot satisfy the insatiable greed of the wealthy. How many other so called problems just vanish without it?

Seems to me the real solution is some mental health diagnoses and treatment for the wealth hoarders.

Cool. Let me know when that's on the ballot. Three decades of MMP has not worked out well for the left, but certainly well for Labour supporters. So much so they'll encourage people to vote for the Green's. No threat to them at all.

Police aren't going to combat the consequences of economic injustice. Real income, wealth and housing equality; and ending the drug war will.
lotts.bsky.social
Yet I met a lot of voters last general election desperately looking for actual progress on the ballot. People are sick of voting for incrementally backwards.

The sick thing about this is that even a CGT is wholly insufficient now (as we are witnessing everywhere where there is one). We should definitely do it, but to think it will in any way move the needle on housing justice, it just won't.
