It's fitting that the cover on AI mindlessly apes an earlier creation and also displaces workers while elevating Silicon Valley plutocrats.

Nixon didn’t go to prison over Watergate, but 48 others were convicted and served time for the scandal - notably, his Attorney General. Attention: Pam Bondi meet John Mitchell.

Hi folks. Another thread of good news about people and organizations standing up to the Trump administration. I'll start with @chrisgeidner.bsky.social www.lawdork.com/p/abrego-gar...
The Trump administration's authoritarian house of cards is starting to fall down
Kilmar Abrego Garcia is "[o]n his way home." Another grand jury rejected DOJ's effort to indict Letitia James. And, Indiana Republicans said no to Trump's redistricting pressure.

I know this is a very niche thing to be annoyed at but I absolutely hate the way tech has coopted the term architect. Not one of these d-bags actually designed any systems or wrote a single line of code. They didn't build anything. I hate it (and their products).

If I could genuinely have her back for just an hour, there is almost nothing I wouldn't give. This creepy AI simulacrum isn't that, though. Machines cannot reproduce our loved ones. There is no antidote for death, or the grief that follows.

Will Arnett was on Conan and told a story about how Conan dealt with the death of his parents by accusing Jason Bateman of killing them. It’s so funny.

I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.
