This really is amazing news, and another demonstration of why investing in research matters for all of us. There's still a fair bit of work to be done, but it could save a huge number of lives.
This is huge news!
UBC has developed an enzyme that can convert donor organs to type O, making them universal.
Normally a using organs of the wrong blood type causes the recipient's immune system to attack the organ, leading to failure.

"Great first draft, Isla. Now if you could just take out every incidence of 'for fucksake' then I'll sign off on it and we'll put it up on the website."
Yes! I have been saying for years that rather than Scotland leaving the UK, everyone would be happier if we just kicked England out of it.

NoaF needs more contributors. Maybe that could be you?

If not, we'd really appreciate a share, or if you fancied passing the link across to someone who might be interested, so we can keep on covering as wide a ground in SFF as we can.
I don't think I can picture it on you, but I trust Morag. If she thinks it'll look good on you, and, more importantly, if you want it, then go for it.
Between getting MMR, covid and flu boosters over the last few weeks, I feel invincible (although, like Mario with a star, it won't last long [except, hopefully, the MMR])! #VaccinesAreBrilliant

People are clearly (and maybe sickly) intrigued by this incredibly tacky and dumb product and have been asking me for more details and history, so if you're morbidly curious, check this thread. I won't be repeating the flavor list, you can find that in the original post, but here's more info 🧵
Star-Spangled Ice Cream (2003-2009): A line of jingoistic-themed ice cream flavors, launched to "provide a conservative alternative" to Ben and Jerry's. Flavors included "I Hate the French Vanilla", "Iraqi Road", "Nutty Environmentalist" and "RushMallow".

Windows 10 goes out of support today. My fave useless fact about w10 is that the iconic blue desktop background is a *photograph* - not CGI.

I've enjoyed others of the author's works, and have already grabbed this. I'm looking forward to reading it.
A quick reminder for everyone in the UK (and mainland Europe, too!) that Wooing the Witch Queen's British edition is currently on sale in ebook for 99p!

I suspect they won't turn down money from anywhere :-). The platform has a few other councils on it too, and I could invest in any of them
Hi, the "My Bangers" feed now just shows this thread. Any chance that feed might come back?
I don't think you do. I was asked for my address but I think that's for general fraud detection.

But you do have to pass a quiz! Really, they're serious about you knowing that it's an investment, not a savings account!
Glasgow City Council have launched an investment drive to raise money from local residents to invest in new renewables and other ways to green the city. I think this is a great idea and have already invested (interest rate is comparable to banks): www.abundanceinvestment.com/invest/glasg...

Happy birthday Paul, hope you have a great day 🎂🎉!

I'm not a photographer, but I am an SFF fan. I've literally just finished A House Between Sea and Sky by Beth Cato that I really enjoyed (my review: lordofthemoon.com/bookreviews/...)

Looks fab. Is it just an artefact of the photo, or are those buildings on the left actually curved?
