Hi again! It's me with an another installment of the last book I ever thought would get banned--my picture book about a unicorn and kitty who are pals. A quick look at what this school district bizarrely found objectionable. 1/
You'll never guess what book got the Carroll ISD school library advisory committee to say "genitals" a dozen times in 20 minutes. @txfreedomread.bsky.social will have more on this story soon, but for now, you have to hear this audio. open.substack.com/pub/franklin...
Please don’t say “genitals” one more time, Carroll ISD SLAC.
Listen to the audio of the committee that decided to ban Pretty Perfect Kitty Corn from Carroll ISD. If you dare.

How many times a day do you think,
"I hate this
(world/ timeline/ admin/ era/ fill in the blank...)"?

This prompted the latest one. But it's too many times a day.
Devastating. Trump admin selling off historic public art to the highest bidder. "It is a tragic irony that murals meant to represent the contract between the government and its citizens would be sold to the highest bidder rather than preserved for posterity." www.alternet.org/trump-destro...

Painted figures haunt an empty building. A boy leaning on a pair of crutches. A father and son wandering a barren railroad track. A nuclear family at a picnic table. These poignant scenes were painted...

The President should not get to order the execution of civilians without a trial regardless of whether or not the average Joe thinks they are sympathetic. Period. Ever.

That commercial with the guy hiding in the pantry during the mass family gathering chaos reminded me of that time while working at a summer camp when I was taking my breaks in the pantry for quiet reading time. And how they all thought it was the funniest, weird discovery when one of them noticed.

I have been saying and will keep saying that Trump and his people are vulnerable to an opponent who embodies a certain style of masculinity. When Kelly called them in unserious, he basically called into question their manhood.
Kelly: He runs around on stage talking about lethality and the warrior ethos.. That’s not the message that should be coming from the Secretary of Defense… He runs around on a stage like he’s a 12 year old playing army. It’s embarrassing.

We will have to come up with a new constitutional framework to deal with the reality of the fact that the United States government was taken over by a criminal enterprise.

Donald Trump is a convicted criminal.

The Trump administration is a criminal organization.

Rebuilding American democracy will require massive efforts to expunge his work. Removing his nominees, erasing his executive legacy and rescinding his pardons will be just the beginning
Trump’s inevitable exit "will be a day to celebrate, even while we acknowledge how much work lies ahead—not only to begin to repair the destruction and hold the criminals accountable, but also to reimagine how we can build a progressive future." www.americaamerica.news/p/hello-911-...
“Hello, 911? A Violent Man Is Holding Our Country Hostage"
Trump's sadism and lawless hostility were knowable before he retook office. Can America ever overcome its attraction to violent demagogues?

With everything else happening in the US, I keep wondering about gang activity. All the pre-idiocy era TV shows always include gang problems, but aside from the bogus TdA/MS13 stuff to "justify" racial profiling, there seems to be no attention to regular gang activity. I keep wondering why.

Acceptance saves so much energy for more important things.
Disability isn’t a bad word.

There’s nothing wrong with being disabled.

There’s nothing wrong with identifying as disabled.

Ableism teaches us that we have to hide our disabilities.

Self acceptance means we stop hiding.

We won’t go gently for the comfort of others.

I got a neighbor to come & rescue the excess pumpkin pie (I prefer my pumpkin to be savory) that another neighbor brought over.
She noticed I was moving a bit easier (sans B complex) & she stayed to chat for a bit. By the end I was back to difficult walking & showed her it's not a huge difference.
