I don't know why but when I got to "calcified", I just pictured a ship covered in barnacles.
They increase the drag, the energy requirements to keep moving forward, and can damage the hull.
Good maintenance keeps them down to a minimum.
Seems a fitting metaphor.

The President should not get to order the execution of civilians without a trial regardless of whether or not the average Joe thinks they are sympathetic. Period. Ever.

A thread full of evidence:

I've been researching the idea of Unconditional Universal Basic Income since 2013. Here's a collection of findings I've compiled from various UBI experiments and studies of cash transfer programs around the world.

This will be a VERY LONG and ongoing thread focused entirely on empirical evidence. 🧵

🤭 I love it when you use "underbussing". I know it's a serious concept, but the word makes me giggle.

That was my year 2022. It was awful. I know all those emotions and stress. I hope you have people to help you that you can trust, that will honor your needs.

Cutting them to lie flat for ease of cooking.
Flashback to my first Thanksgiving in Aotearoa, one year ago today.

Two roasted spatchcocked ducks, root veggies and broccoli roasted in duck fat, Vincent Price’s Wayside Stuffing, and mashed potatoes and gravy.

Happy Thanksgiving.

It's that thing where you know it's time to check on the toddler when it gets too quiet. The shows keep reminding me how quiet that segment is.

I've wondered why they haven't stepped up to resist ICE. The gangs in NYC were the OG police and community support in that era & area (not to be confused with the slave catchers turned cops).

I wonder are they active under the radar?
Are some ICE, themselves?
It feels ominous that we don't know.

To be clear - they were (mostly) all friendly, but my health could not handle the increased noise, heat, chaos, etc. There was no escape or anywhere to rest. And I had to wait until nearly midnight each time for them to be ready to take me back home. Constantly seeking restful hideaways to survive.

I used to try to spend holidays with a friend's family, but it was always a nightmare. She was always enjoying it, so she never noticed. But when a brutal Christmas migraine kept me home one year, I discovered it's such a relief to not force myself through that anymore.

Am I the only one that is bothered by that? Like when I first heard about it, that the US refuses to let anyone hold us accountable, I automatically knew it meant we needed to be.
