Margaret Thatcher isn’t the feminist icon you think she is. She/her Berlin/Dublin

I saw SO MANY celebrities during my time in Ireland. My favourites were seeing Ian McElhinney in a minivan in Ardara and Aidan Gillen in the toilet paper aisle of the Beacon Court Dunnes.
Absolutely convinced I saw Christopher Waltz in a shopping centre in Neubrandenburg yesterday. If it was him, it continues my knack for seeing celebrities in everyday places, which started with seeing Daniel and Majella O‘Donnell in the Letterkenny Shopping Ctr in December 2017.
Yes. It‘s sand for your Spare Rips.
Does anybody need any seasoning for their Spare Rips?

"Europeans recognize his vision about free public transit and universal childcare. We expect our governments to make these kinds of services accessible to all of us,” said Verbeek. “We pay higher taxes and get civilized societies in return."
Europeans recognize Zohran Mamdani’s supposedly radical policies as ‘normal’
Critics of New York City’s mayor-elect have said his pledges of free bus service and universal childcare are unrealistic, but in Europe it’s a given

Sipping on this lovely (vegan) Spekulatius Likör and listening to my lovely German boyfriend do an impression of Erich Honecker. If it gets better than this, let someone else have it. I‘m good.

One of the important messages from last night’s New York election: it doesn’t matter how much corporate money your opponent has, it counts for nothing if the people are behind you.

Gals, if you're not absolutely ruining the workplace for certain kinds of men, you need to step up your game. 🩷

My love language is making you watch a movie I’ve made part of my personality and then quietly seething at you as you gradually lose interest and begin to play on your phone more and more

Introduced my lovely German boyfriend to kale chips and he loves them. Portland friends, this means I have to marry him, yes?

Zohran Mamdani polled +40% on men under 30. So we wasted all that time on all those think pieces about how we need a Joe Rogan for the left, when what we actually needed were *policies* for the left.

And I've offered it in good faith, with a tone of "please let me help you succeed here by sharing with you the places where companies are struggling and the problems you may face, so you don't have to learn the hard way".

Genuinely, why wouldn't you want feedback from *checks notes* the only person who has actually been running a pay gap portal in Ireland for the last several years, and who has read every single pay gap report? I have offered this feedback multiple times, even before this review event.

Well. Today I learned that there is a review process happening for the government's pilot draft pay gap portal this month. Guess who's not invited to take part?

Honestly, more than a little insulting. It's not like they don't have my contact info, I email them about once a month...

Received my UK public lending right statement (writers receive a payment every time their books are borrowed from the library).

Thanks so much to UK library users for your support for my writing 🙏

Libraries are so important to the fabric of our reading culture – let's keep supporting them.

Can I tell my NYC mayor story again today? Ok, fine.

Rob Jetten in the Netherlands
Plaid Cymru in Caerphilly

The rise of the far right is not inevitable.
If we work together, we can dare to hope.
This is a great thread of the qualities of a Bodega. That said, I‘m almost certain I‘ve seen most of this in every random shop in every village in Donegal, so long as you replace „mystery fig bars“ with Mass Cards.
Here is my challenge to the people who say that a NYC bodega is indistinguishable from a convenience store in other cities: give me the name and location of a convenience store you think is indistinguishable from a NYC bodega. If I visit that city, I'll check it out. 1/2

well I for one am shocked that "every aspect of your life gets worse forever and also look at my marble bathroom" did not turn out to be a winning election strategy
