Urbanism, safe streets, climate, sustainable transportation, antifacism, and state/local politics in Cambridge, MA. Car-free. Big-tech skeptic.

Starting a block list, because we've all read this same #carbrain drivel more than enough. I've only seen one on here so far myself, so please feel free to send more along. I'll probably do a second list for explicitly violent ideation in case you want to mute vs block.

TEN previous arrests for driving on a suspended license, because we let offenders keep their car and pinky promise to not use it. Drivers licenses need to be a license to POSSESS a car as well as to operate it, just like a gun license. There's no 2A rights for cars and they kill just as many people.

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Amnesty International, interviewing migrant detainees, identifies use of the confinement box. There can be no denying it is a torture prison

A pedestrian crash is when I, like, bump into someone and one of us falls over. In this case, a person with *40* traffic tickets slammed into a guy with her car (after also hitting a telephone pole).

it’s been pretty funny to see Polis’ addiction to posting completely end any discussion of him as a potential 2028 candidate

And even if they bothered to revoke licenses, so many tragic crashes involve drivers with revoked licenses. You wouldn't revoke a gun license and let the person keep their guns, because that's insane. Guns have MORE constitutional protections than cars. Confiscate the CARS.
It's easy to kill and keep killing with a car in California.

"Drunk and drugged driving is now so common in car-centric California that drivers routinely rack up four, five, six DUIs. One woman in Fresno just got her 16th."
15 DUIs, still driving: California's failure to take repeat drunk drivers off the road
As alcohol-related roadway deaths spike across the state, a CalMatters investigation finds California has some of the weakest DUI laws in the country.

big late breaking news: the market monitor for the largest energy grid in the u.s., covering much of the midwest and mid-atlantic, has called to block new data centers connections to the grid, saying current course of growth assures regular blackouts
No more PJM data centers unless they can be reliably served: market monitor
The PJM Interconnection’s market monitor urged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to rule that large data centers can only come online if the grid operator can still meet reliability metrics.

- Spellcheck
- Tabs/Categories
- Spam Detection (!!!)

without spam detection there's almost no reason to use gmail

they want to make it painful to remove their AI permissions

Trump is taking money we use to house people, money we use to *prevent* homelessness, and requiring it be spent instead on policing homelessness.

Yelling at people for being homeless, unsurprisingly, is less effective than housing people. He doesn't give a shit. The cruelty is the point.
