I like biking. I hate inaction on preventing climate change. I think Boston could be the best city in the US, should have over a million residents, and be fully bikeable #CarLiteBoston #AutomateSafeStreetsMass

They're hereeeere! You can order a "Bike Lanes Help Me #ArriveAlive" lawn sign from the BCU! Local delivery (by bike, natch) or pickup only (no shipping at this time) @bikeboston.bsky.social

There are options to "sponsor a sign" so they can be donated

There needs to be a massive grassroots push across the Commonwealth to get the camera enforcement bills passed. It's not like it's online sports gambling with a fat cat lobby cutting checks to Ron Mariano! Just kids getting run down walking to school. WRITE YOUR REPS

There's a bill for that

SD1495 and HD3053: An Act relative to traffic regulation using road safety cameras; Filed by: Senator Brownsberger; Reps Cruz & Owens

It's important to allow people from the suburbs to drive as fast as possible and kill people in Boston.
Residents were also enthusiastic about the idea of cameras at traffic lights that could trigger tickets to motorists who blast through the lights. Worrell agreed, but said that would require an act of the legislature, so he urged people to contact their state reps and senators to support the idea - besides state Rep. Sam Montaño of Jamaica Plain, who is already fighting for the idea.

Weber agreed with the idea, but said it might be hard to get the idea out of the legislature, since Boston would likely be the main place to install them, and suburban legislators don't want to see their constituents getting tickets in the city.

Anyone in Boston an immigration lawyer or know one who can help this woman? Her husband is detained at Logan over a dismissed misdemeanor from 2017. He’s a legal resident of the US. She just asked for help an hour ago.

ICE in Chicago detained two people (that we know of) for filming them today, a cyclist and a neighborhood rapid responder. This in addition to tear gassing another neighborhood and brandishing weapons at rapid response—both things that have also already been going on for weeks.

More truck-free cargo trailer action! This was a 30-mile bike ride to pick up a bedroom set from a Craigslist ad. Once you live a car-lite or car-free lifestyle, you can't unsee the waste and inefficiency of personal car ownership. #CargoBikes #CarsRuinCities #FossilFuel #CleanAir #CarsStink

I hate telling this story, but when tear gas is in the news... telling always feels importantm

Tear gas is an abortifacient.

When I was tear gassed, we were trying for a baby.

The following day, I bled in a way I never have before. Like no period of my life before or since.

Horror movie stuff.

The deployment of tear gas throughout the Chicago area is a growing health concern. ICE is deploying tear gas in residential neighborhoods, near children, playgrounds, stores, etc. What are the health implications on our communities?

Getting ISA required in all government and corporate vehicles, as well as repeat speeding offenders, would be a game changer.

This is good news.

A few vehicles with Intelligent Speed Assist can have an outsized impact on safety bc they’ll also prevent vehicles behind them from speeding.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?
