Hello, we're Knave of Cups

We launched on April 1st 2022 (not a joke)

We're named after the Page of Cups, the tarot card meaning youthful, unexpected inspiration that springs from the unconscious mind

(that's the fish - that's who's whispering grand ideas)
🧵
A brightly-colored spread of products arranged around a painted wooden sculpture of the Knave of Cups logo (a lavender fish springing out of a mystical lavender chalice). The products range from blue and pink dice to psychedelic playing cards to holographic tarot cards to TTRPG zines

When asked "Why play solo RPGs?", I try to hit:

- Flexibility: play anytime
- Creativity: build your own worlds, characters, stories
- Skills: learn systems, practice GMing
- Focus: center on one character
- Immersion: explore personal experiences and emotions
- Community: share your stories

Can I interest anyone in a small, somewhat eldritch tomato? It might be haunted, and I grew it myself

Ventaores and Belluae are separately playable as quiet, tragic solo games, but we MUCH prefer together, as a bittersweet duet (hey, you can play both characters if you want but you gotta buy both games, thems the rules)
Dance of Death Bundle - Knave of Cups
In the Dance of Death bundle two solo games compliment one another to become one deadly duo game. Become a monster and flee, chase the monster that stole your love from you. Flight and pursuit ending…

New in October: The Dance of Death Bundle from @goodluckpress.co
👣
A set of two tarot-driven solo games, each experience complementing the other to create a duet. In Belluae, a monster flees, leaving letters in their wake. In Ventaores, a hunter pursues, bent on vengeance for the death of their love

Not enough writers use Spite as their protagonist's motivation. In real life, it's incredibly powerful and we use it all the time. In books, it's uncommon and almost always depicted as a flaw to be overcome.

a ttrpg but it’s all tables. The cover is a table you roll on to determine which art is on the cover. There’s a table to determine who was its lead designer. there’s a table for who becomes the GM and instead of rolling dice it’s decided by how many snacks are present

New for October: Wither & Grow by @junkfoodgames.bsky.social
🍃
A tidy, colorful solo journaling game about the life of a sentient plant-creature. Follow your growth through five stages - your foliage reflects your mind as well as your body. What's important to you? Will you flourish or stagnate?
The cover of Wither & Grow, a solo journaling game by Junk Food Games. Dark green ink on light green paper. The title is all lower-case whimsical serif font with an elaborate ampersand. The central image is a hulking being made of shaggy plants. Its face is partially covered by vines, flowers bloom from its back, and its willowy arms drag on the ground An interior example of Wither & Grow. A two-page spread with an illustration across both pages of a mass of vegetation with a leaf-covered hand reaching out of the top. The text explains "if an ideal goes over 10, you lose control of your growth." It goes on to explain how this ends your game and gives prompts to conclude your story in your journal

Will this malevolent creature (hiding in the skin of mall patrons) pick off your team one by one?

One of the first modules for Liminal Horror (circa 2022), this one's freshly-remodeled and ready for a team of Investigators to take on its gooey, paranoid challenge
The Mall Remastered - Knave of Cups
The Mall is a wet, gooey, practical effects filled TTRPG adventure set in a 199x mall pulled out of time and space. The mall’s denizens are trapped inside with a creature not bound by any one form.…

Happy drop weekend! What's new? Liminal Horror modules like The Mall Remastered by @goblinarchives.itch.io
🛍️
An entity slithers through the racks of last season's jeans, consuming and transforming all it encounters - salespeople, garlic pretzels, teens in the arcade. It's 90s nostalgia + The Thing!
The cover of The Mall, a module for Liminal Horror. The entire cover is a graphic novel-style, detailed black and white ink illustration of a decrepit, blood-stained mall hallway. Bad things have happened here but now all is relatively quiet. There's slimy ooze crawling out of the roll-down gate of a closed store, twisted mannequins (including one stepping out of a shattered display window), and more ooze slinking above, along the hanging banners that would have advertised sales An interior example from The Mall. On the lefthand page, location descriptions for 17. Food Court, 18. Stan's Pretzel Stand, 19. Joe's Burger Bar, and 20. Spiral Cinema. The illustration shows a freestanding pretzel kiosk with blood pools at the register and on the counter. A mass of meat that might be a person's torso leans against the front of the kiosk. The righthand page is a lettered map of the Basement and Lower Tunnels (yes, there are tunnels in a mall - Jen used to work at one, Jen is writing this description, and Jen affirms that real mall basements are absolutely as labyrinthine as this game suggests)

If you can't come out right now, please don't hate yourself.
One day, the meaning of labels will disappear.

Please love yourself as you are.
The one who can cherish yourself the most is yourself.
Because that is your strength and beauty.

It's a drop weekend! What's new? The Aisling Tarot, a deluxe Rider Waite-style deck from Vermilion Collection
🍁
Dark feminine energy - autumn-hued, gold-edged coffin-shaped cards. Art Nouveau-meets-Gothic Lolita vibes perfect for divination as well as tarot-driven games requiring drama and symbolism
A example spread from the Aisling Tarot. Three prism-shaped cards, The Sun (orange tones, a circus performer with a striped dress and stockings stands above a carousel and holds a smiling sun), The Eight of Cups (pink tones, eight chalices with lunar symbols on them at a stone gateway, floating steps ascend toward the moon), and The Two of Swords (purple tones, two hands reach toward a broken hand mirror with two crossed daggers atop its handle). Also visible in the photo: a two-part box (also coffin-shaped), the rest of the cards spread face down, and the instruction manual The Aisling Tarot box, a coffin-shaped, crimson container with a Gothlic Lolita-style figure in an elaborate dress whose petticoat is a celestial-accented cage playing violin under a full moon. The Aisling Tarot meaning guide is also pictured - also crimson with an illustration of a threadbare teddy bear whose stuffing is spilling out a tear in its stomach. The guide is, frustratingly, rectangular and does not fit inside the box

Looking for a #horror tale to get you into that autumnal mood?

Wayward Autumnal is a sylvan horror of feminine monstrosity. A dark fairy tale in a lush, twisted wood 🍂

It's completely improvised using Under the Autumn Strangely. It's an audio story, but I put my whole ass into the visuals. ENJOY!

This just makes me think really hard of the Wayward Autumnal AP (put on by @annethegnome.bsky.social, game by @thismaybegraham.bsky.social), which I really need to dig into and finish this season
