🎶 Thunder Boys Playlist 🎶

I'm going to start a thread of songs the kiddo loves to play over and over and over again. He definitely knows what he likes.

This is his current fave -
Yum Yum Breakfast Burrito

Also, today thunder boy & I juiced two oranges and he was enthralled and so proud of himself. It was so fucking lovely, and a really meaningful moment.

I was thinking how this is the kind of thing you'd usually do with a 2yo, but it means so much more when your kid is 8 and just getting it.

I've had lots of advocacy kind of stuff happening lately, and lots of conversations with other parents, and it's been genuinely shocking how much I know about stuff.

I get caring for foster kids has given me waaaay more experience. But I hadn't realised how useful it all is now.

I feel equally attacked, supported, and proud.

I particularly like my emoji cloud - it's a vibe. 😂💓💔😍

(TW sexual harassment and violence, drugging)

I’m a few days late finding out about this, but this is one of the strangest and most upsetting things I’ve ever heard of www.theguardian.com/society/2025...
‘I didn’t even know this type of attack existed’: more than 200 women allege drugging by senior French civil servant
In a case echoing the Pelicot trial, dozens of women allege they were given hot drinks mixed with a diuretic to make them urinate. Three of them speak out here

Seattle has thousands of Somali immigrants, many in my neighborhood. We go to the same farmer's market. We shop at the same stores. We share the same sidewalks. They fucking matter to me and I firmly reject the idea that any place on earth would be better off without Somalis.

I truly love that every single time this shitbag takes this back to court it results in a statement that is even more definitive that THIS RAPIST DID A RAPE.

And that his own lawyer describes him as "an inspiration to those who *say* they've been wrongly accused" is genuinely hilarious to me.
Lehrmann loses appeal against finding he raped Brittany Higgins -- as it happened
Bruce Lehrmann has lost his appeal against a Federal Court ruling that found on the balance of probabilities he had raped his then-colleague Brittany Higgins at Parliament House in 2019.

What pisses me off most about this student accommodations shit is these requests are completely normal in the workplace.

I had a test opened early because it conflicted with a meeting I had. I've got an extension for assessments like I'd ask for more time for a project in a work environment.

Nope this is just ableism. Talking about SHAMING people for supposedly lying about needing accommodations is bullshit. I guarantee you more disabled people have been SHAMED for even asking to be accommodated than anyone who actually might be lying about needing accommodations. This person as an ass.

This is exactly the same as people worrying about "overdiagnosis" of ADHD, a concern that falls apart entirely if you consider the possibility that we have been underhelping people for a long time. We have never done enough in building an accessible world, let's start there.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

This is such a weird take

It's expensive and difficult to get accomodations in US universiities for the first time, especially for students who still need a formal diagnosis

I've spent time trying to help numerous students navigate that system - never have I wondered if they were "faking"

you don't actually have to balance this. there isn't some big problem with people pretending to be disabled, we don't need to be means testing and scrutinizing people to weed out fakers. you're listening to eugenicists and mistaking their claims for good faith arguments when they are obvious horsesh

Oh look, it's that well-meaning motivation that makes it harder for people with disabilities to get accommodations just in case we might be cheating. I thought this was long-since-debunked, but I guess not.
