And he drank the juice out of a cup with a straw and didn't spill it everywhere or aspirate! There were so many wins in such a simple moment in time.

Same!! Our school is tiny but % wise has double the amount of kids with disabilities than other local schools. They didn't come for the services at first, but they have grown around the kids needs as the school has embraced them and enthusiastically adapted to what they need. It should be the norm.

And this is why my kid is in a tiny school in a classroom with kids from Prep to Grade 2. The teacher is already adjusting the work so there's no excuse not to for my kids needs (and he can join in with the other kids at his learning level).

I feel like this is what people don't get about kids like mine being in mainstream schools. Sure, other kids don't have the wide range of access needs he has, but the funding, resources, and strategies that come with him benefit every kid in the class. And you can see the impact on the whole class.

Though that person with a uterus also needs a whole lot of accurate, current info to make an informed choice.

That's part of the issue with abortion of babies with Down Syndrome. Too many women get their abortion date with the diagnosis alongside health info fresh from 1972.

That's eugenics too.

A-fucking-men. It's not cute. It's weird body shaming that makes you look like an arsehole.

I feel like we need to add something to the word upsetting, because it's the exact right word but does not capture the scale of upsetting this is.

It's such an intimate, invasive type of attack. I cannot imagine the level of deeply fucked up harm he caused women for his own pleasure.

I have an access plan because I'm a carer, but my lecturers are flexible with everyone. Because that's how life works!

Asking for accommodations shows that you're managing your time and resources to do the best you can. There should be zero shame or gatekeeping in doing that.

Where's the evidence of this? I'm a uni student with an access plan, and do not see this at all. If anything these accommodations aren't accessed enough - partly because of this kind of shaming.

Also, it's not cheating, or getting a meaningful edge over anyone. You still have to do the work.
