Classic piece of Discordian thought I always remember when theory strays too far from anything actionable.

My take on it below:
The Barstool Experiment One lonely night, Malaclypse the Younger was out drinking at a bar when two students walked in. As the evening progressed and the alcohol flowed, the students began to talk about the subjectivity of the universe; most especially the stools upon which they sat. The first explained that the stool, being made of matter which was itself made of particles between which there was a huge amount of space, could reasonably not be considered to be physical at all. The second took a different perspective; that due to the unreliability of our senses, we had only the word of a piece of malfunctioning electrified meat in our skulls that the stool exists, it could easily be a shared hallucination. Mal, filled with the Goddess' mirth, approached the young men and proposed that they undertake an experiment to settle the matter - as all good scientists ought to be able to defend their hypotheses. The students readily agreed. Whereupon Mal picked up a barstool and declared, "Reality is whatever raises a lump on your skull." Before demonstrating thus by thrashing both students into unconsciousness. And so, they were enlightened.
