Finally watched K. Kurosawa's Cloud yesterday. Aesthetically, and evocatively, the updated digital horror, the use of abandoned spaces, the plastic veils, reminded me of Kairo, even if it lacks such romanticism. Still a joy to watch the craft and care, his films always feel like masterclasses.

This line from Video Games (Apr 83) was too prescient. One of the more frustrating things to me about the state of video game preservation is what feels like a general lack of interest in pre-'80s games; I will never stop banging the drum about the importance of '70s games (especially Death Race).

Dedico demasiado tiempo de mi vida a pensar la cantidad de gags que la gente recuerda como referencias de Los Simpson que en realidad son referencias a comedias clásicas que a su vez eran referencias a rutinas de vodevil como un siglo antes.
De hecho, muchas cosas de los Looney Tunes empezaron como parodia de cosas que eran populares en la época, pero que ya nadie recuerda.

i know you’re not supposed to read the conversation in the comments but the conversation is depressing and anti-art in all the typical ways to justify censorship… like there’s so much to unpack here especially with how quickly people paint art as “abuse” when it discusses difficult topics.
