The five-part series, “Sick in a Hospital Town,” pursues one question: Why are people in Albany so sick when its most powerful institution is a hospital?

One of my children was involuntarily committed in 8th grade because they were suicidal. The facility closed a couple of years later due to abuse. This was the "good" facility in our state.
Care does not happen in psych wards. Stabilization of crisis can happen in psych wards, & it's purely being in a contained environment with doctors all around adjusting meds. The rest of what happens in psych wards is torture. We will need to see the end of the psych ward for mad liberation.

Almost done. Just down to a couple of minor fixes and hand-sewing to finish the lining.
Hate that the Canes decided to be evil assholes, because it looks kinda pretty.
Maybe someone will buy it after M's already-paid for season tickets run out.

This is a gift. Thank you to @siembranc.bsky.social for sharing this new toolkit with what they did when Border Patrol showed up in NC: docs.google.com/document/d/1... - share far and wide especially with our comrades in MN and LA (New Orleans esp).
Toolkit: how we dealt with Border Patrol
In November 2025, Border Patrol announced it would be coming to Charlotte, North Carolina. We only had a few days’ notice. Just like in Chicago and Los Angeles, they weren’t coming to “keep the peace....

You can’t tell if someone is disabled just by looking at them.

There’s no such thing as the “genuinely disabled”.

You are not entitled to a person’s entire medical history just so you can decide whether to believe them or not.

People are not faking disability, most are trying to fake being well.

Republicans in DC are headed towards another shutdown while Republicans in North Carolina are focused on silencing American history, past and present.

The NC GOP should focus on finally passing a state budget instead of this harmful fearmongering and attempts to whitewash our school curriculums.

SA Warning:

The whole thing stinks from the top down.

For those not in the know, the Hurricanes org (including their affiliation with the #ChicagoWolves) have now:

1) Attempted to sign 2 of the 5 players accused of sexual assault
2) Actually signed 1 of the 5
Absolutely fucking trash. This is the Canes’ AHL affiliate for those who thought the work was done after the initial non signing. #CarolinaCulture

There's another dimension to this Rosa Parks story that you may not know. This is where the story most often gets mis-narrated.

The bus driver is often left out as a faceless entity and passive part of the story, but he is important to this story.
