Also I don't think people are conflating a financial event with a technology adoption either. The two are always, and will always, be linked. You cannot have a large uptake in a commercial tech without hype aka overvaluation, in my humble, university sophomore, opinion.

Sure! And we didn't have a Add to Blockchain button in every tool.

Doesn't mean people didn't advocate for it, or assure the entire planet this was the future of computing and security. Doesn't mean there wasn't a corresponding financial bubble.

We still just use (largely relational) databases.

Many of us have been, for years, frantically telling people that there is no justice in the system.

So remember that the next time when someone posts an, "OMG Luigi is so hot!" - they are a big part of the problem.

Hm. I think some folks said the very same about blockchain tech, and you're right, we still have blockchain tech.

But not everything is on a blockchain like all the techbros said it would be and we generally don't spend a lot of time thinking about it.

ChatGPT discerned that sending an initial message on Monday midmorning would set the right pace. "Then it gave me some options for what the message could be," says Rich.
"Keep it light, warm, and low-stakes so it reads as genuine interest without urgency," the bot advised. "Something like: Hey Sarah, still laughing about [tiny shared moment/reference if you've got one] - good to meet you!" Rich went back and forth with ChatGPT until he felt they'd hit upon exactly the right message ("Hey Sarah, it was lovely to meet you") but sadly she never replied, he says. "It's been two weeks now."
