I received that book as a gift when I was 10. Upon publication, It was a Book-of-the-Month selection and my mother saw the title, knew I liked monsters and ordered it. Her research ended there. I read it. It turns out that it was not really a book for a 10-year old. :)

I love the tv version. Scared the shite out me as a kid. Showed it to my partner as she'd never seen it and she thought it was hilarious i found it (and still find it)scary.

I was reading about unmade films and found that Tim Burton, Yorgos Lanthimos, Hal Ashby, Jack Nicholson, Jeff Bridges, Clint Eastwood and Harry Dean Stanton have all tried to film it and failed.

I get why. Like a weird 70s Western meets David Lynch. A short read too and very very much my thing.

This is desperately sad. A truly amazing actress and a superb director. Her performances in The Godfather and Annie Hall are vastly different but both so genuinely brilliant.
