How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

mamdani is going to impose mississippi masala law. everyone will have to watch his mother's movies and realize how much we've undervalued her at the expense of white female filmmakers who fit more easily into our understanding of "feminist cinema" or whatever.

I'll be at work, on the sales floor, and customers will come up to me and try to talk. I'll politely explain that I'm deaf. Then they will stand there, perplexed, with a blank look on their face, unsure of what to do. Like the notion of going to the front or finding someone else is preposterous.

I hate having to do this but I’m desperate. I’ve been looking everyday for work but nothing is biting. I’m down $80 and I can’t afford my very needed meds and I definitely can’t afford my home when the first comes next month. I’m drowning in medical debt. Anything helps.

For anyone too young to remember what it was like before ACA…
IT WAS A FUCKING NIGHTMARE.
IT WAS A FUCKING NIGHTMARE.
One of the most important provisions of the ACA was eliminating pre-existing conditions exclusions from insurance plans.
Folks need to be reminded that if the ACA goes away, so does that provision.

Just realized this marks the first time I won't be seeing a Sydney Sweeney movie on opening weekend. Curses!

The opening credits to THE PRODUCERS has long been one of my favorite title sequences ever. Up there with the 1967 CASINO ROYALE-a movie that also has one of my favorite end credits ever.
The other night, I went to see Mel Brooks' first feature, The Producers, on the glorious big screen at Missoula's gem, the Roxy. And I was reminded how the credit sequence -- the music, the editing, the acting, the timing -- announces to the audience: "You're going to see one TERRIFIC movie, folks!"

Anyhow, finished "Celtic Weird", recommend it for anyone who loves tales of the strange, folkloric, and eerie. The rare anthology where every single one in the collection is a banger of one kind or another.

Katy O'Brian has opened up about how playing out lesbian boxer Lisa Holewyne was a 'breath of fresh air'.
O'Brian plays the boxer alongside Sydney Sweeney in 'Christy', a biopic about lesbian boxer Christy Martin.

Down to $400!
I still need to raise $600 by the morning. I have no more stopgaps left and just need to make sure our lodging is secured for the week before I have to come back to work. Literally any dollar helps get us closer but sharing helps a ton too. Thank you!

Westerns are like musicals: when you're watching a great one, you can't help wondering why anyone bothers making any other kind of movie.
So many great things in TRUE GRIT, but there's nothing quite as magical as watching a 14 year old girl live rent free in the minds of various grown adult men.

Color me intrigued.
The protagonist of Predator: Badlands has a similar narrative arc to the hero of Hundreds of Beavers, encountering trap after organic trap in a dangerous land before figuring out how to use those perils to his advantage. #filmsky 📽

Bumping this one more time because we still need to raise $850 by TOMORROW morning. I have to work a double tomorrow and really need to be able to pay the room off as early as possible. Every dollar is a helpful dollar, and sharing the post is equally helpful! Thank you!!
I know that things are bad all around, between the gov’t shutdown, the SNAP crisis and every other awful thing happening in the world at the moment, but we could really use some help again to keep our roof for the next week. Anything helps, even if it’s just sharing this post!

Five years ago you could search: "when did the saxophone become an indication of sexy times in film" and you'd get somebody's well-researched article.
Now it's like "sex was invented by the ancient Sumerians as a way to fight ghosts, which they used to brew beer." (search instead for "saxophone?")
