I thank everyone doing the sharing and donations on my fundraiser. And this is my reality right now. I get dialysis three days a week to keep on going. It is no fun but has to be done.

One of my friends is showing me the Record of Lodoss War anime and - I’m very much enjoying it but - I’m still waiting for Heterosexual™ explanations for the early dynamic between Protagnoist Parn and Mercenary King Kashue.

I just had my mind blown by SOMEONE YOU CAN BUILD A NEST IN by @wiswell.bsky.social. It's about a monster in a fantasy setting, but really it's a psychological thriller...I mean a romance...a mystery...horror elements....

Oh, I can't explain it. Go read it and decide for yourself!

What does it say about this country that that the kind of open, rank bigotry Trump administration officials regularly express towards black immigrants apparently has no social cost because of the number of Americans who quietly agree or don't care.

This is a profoundly anti-Black country. Not just racist but ANTI-BLACK. It is foundational and everpresent.

Re-skeeting for the afternoon crowd. This is very much one of those where if you know the stories behind the stories, you have a deeper appreciation of the story. But if you know the real life stories behind the stories behind the stories, you find new and unfathomed horrors.

lol you'll never convince me a huge part of the reluctance isn't that there's no legal way to make UBI white-only.

Lotta white people in this country are happy to lose as long as nobody Black or brown wins.
I wish more people didn't get mad because "why can't I have $1000 a month for nothing!"
And instead went "why not universal basic income?"

Not joking: has one reporter responded to his preposterous Sgt Schultz “I know nothing” schtick by immediately asking:

* Doesn’t this level of ignorance disqualify you as speaker?

* Do you really think we are so dumb to believe you?

* Do you think it is appropriate to insult the voters like this?
RAJU: If defenseless survivors were killed, would that constitute a violation of the laws of war?

MIKE JOHNSON: I'm not going to prejudge any of that. I was pretty busy yesterday. I didn't follow a lot of the news.

Started doing the Bluesky Year in Review trend before realizing it was going to highlight aspects of 2025 that were just going to make me sad.

*sigh* I won’t say I’m aiming to have a better year ahead (not falling for that trap again), just ideally a less shitty one.

The way that studios have convinced general audiences that an adaptation only needs the barest resemblance to the source material and that anyone who would like more than that is an “unreasonable purist who just doesn’t understand how adaptations should work” will never not madden me.

This is why people who insist that capitalism/profit motive will ultimately trump racism are unfortunately and demonstrably incorrect

We’ve had endless examples of how much money there is to be made, and yet they consistently do this
I still can't believe Sony sold K-Pop Demon Hunters to Netflix thinking it would be a flop, but are betting that basketball movie with a goat is going to be a huge hit in cinemas.
