Hey, there's that classic right-wing respect for free speech and free press that in no way resembles fascism, eh? And from the "free speech absolutist," no less!

Yep, and prostituting themselves to that corrupt system is how the elected officials of both the entire Republican party and the dominant Clintonite-right wing of the Democratic party operate.
This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in the donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics.

It is the root of our dysfunction.

Contrary to Trump's view, it also gives the president zero power to rewrite the constitution itself.

Overall, a very good movie, but one that's sort of thematically divided by the writer's sympathy for his villain, who is, by any reasonable estimation, monstrously unsympathetic.

That's how any functional liberal democracy would deal with such a creature. The U.S. is the only one that ended up saddled with a Biden who was determined to never go after Trump at all.
There was a time when the United States looked down its nose at the countries in South America for being lawless banana republics. Who's the banana republic now, bitches?

No, most of them aren't ignoring those things; they're just offering an evaluation of Harris' awful campaign--the one she actually run, which isn't really the one you describe.
Every person who says 'Harris was a terrible candidate' not only ignored her commitment to democracy, Ukraine, the ACA, but also reproductive rights and decency.

But a Republican operative like Eric Owens isn't going to look at an Insurrectionist who sold out Ukraine and see problems.

Trump preaches to his followers that his opponents don't represent a legitimate political interest, that they are depraved enemies of the nation--preaching that is an assault on the most basic premise of the liberal democracy. Thus rendering he and his movement illegitimate enemies of the nation.
This doesn't end with Trump, it doesn't end with his removal from power or his death. He's reorganized half of the political nation in a fascist-authoritarian mode, disinhibiting the worst among us to resume the most disgusting & evil traditions of belief & action in our country's history.

When it comes to cinema, nothing beats the practical.
Frankenstein. 1931. Dir: James Whale. The b&w cinematography gives it that gothic look, but everything feels ‘organic’: the old windmill creaking, the torches ablaze, the moonlit mist in the sky. It also looks stunning on a 4K TV because the real set pieces aren’t augmented with fake CGI backdrops.

THE CRAZIES is very much a sort of unofficial sequel to NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, continuing the same theme of social breakdown.

Over 2 decades later, Hollywood ripped it off, big-time, to make OUTBREAK.
More nightmarish nihilism from Romero when a leaked biological weapon brings savage insanity to rural USA. Timelessly chilling and brutally downbeat. 1973.

The role of the Clintonite right, which holds hegemonic dominance among federal Democratic elected officials and the national party apparatus, is to preclude, hamstring, attenuate and prevent desired--and, increasingly, desperately needed--progressive reform. That's why they're given the big bucks.
They're paid to lose, paid to give ground, paid to throw their hands up in powerlessness when they're in power. They're complicit in advancing fascism in the USA; they didn't even demand a recount in 2024 nor advocate how the 14th amendment barred trump from becoming POTUS. DNC is Complicit
