Hey, there's that classic right-wing respect for free speech and free press that in no way resembles fascism, eh? And from the "free speech absolutist," no less!

At a time when cinema faces a crisis--being downgraded to "content"--CASABLANCA is a movie I suspect will always survive as cinema.

CASABLANCA has remained an ubiquitous feature of Greatest Movies of All Time lists for longer than most reading these words here today have lived. It was among the first films selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.

That screenplay--the real one--won the film an Academy Award, the film snagging, overall, 7 nominations and winning 3 trophies, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Even a culturally misremembered line--"Play it again, Sam," never uttered in the movie--has stayed with us.

Much of the film's dialogue has been so completely absorbed by the culture that one doesn't even need to argue for the strength of the script; if you've grown up in America, you've heard it all your life, even if you've never seen or even heard of the movie itself.

Directed by Michael Curtiz and with a powerhouse cast headlined by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, CASABLANCA is perhaps the high-point of classical studio-system Hollywood, a miracle of the assembly-line never replicated with such enduringly iconic results.

The film became the 2nd massive horror hit of that same year--Bela Lugosi's DRACULA had been the 1st--and not only established Universal as THE horror studio but established horror itself in the sound era.

Maybe trickster Spidey has nothing better to do. Or maybe, there is nothing better to do.

All of the Defenders were misfits. Some were *really* messed up. "We never had anything like this in MY team," one can imagine Avenger Yellowjacket thinking of the Valkyrie's peculiar circumstances.

(From Defenders #23, by Steve Gerber, Sal Buscema and Vince Colletta.)

Some of the most powerful beings on Earth, the Defenders were outsiders who had to try to find their own places, their own identities, in a world where they just didn't fit.

From Defenders #6, written by Steve Englehart, art by Sal Buscema and Frank McLaughlin.

The Hulk, Marvel's rage-powered engine of destruction, experiences an existential crisis! These sorts of weird, off-the-wall takes are the sorts of thing that really endeared the Defenders to its fans.

Those darn commies! The Defenders were misfits but they were always socially conscious. Dr. Strange redistributes the abundance in Defenders #19 (written by Chris Claremont and Len Wein, art by Sal Buscema and Klaus Janson).

The Defenders made for a great, crazy, often wildly inventive book from a time when Marvel was, with mixed success, embracing a lot of seemingly-weird, outside-the-box ideas.

This Sal Buscema pin-up is from Defenders #6.

How do you follow up Joe Kubert's incredible run of Tarzan comics? If you're Marvel, you try a leisurely--and, for a Marvel book, remarkably sedate--10-part adaptation of Burroughs' "Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar."

A great cover for #5, by Big John Buscema and Pablo Marcos:

Pelosi, Schumer and Biden went along with separating the infrastructure portions of BBB from the larger package, an effort to kill the larger bill with all the important stuff in it, but those "Democratic leaders" assured Americans that both would have to pass.

The CCES has Sanders delivering 75% of his votes to Clinton--overwhelming support. Here's some of the rest of what happened in those states (using those CCES numbers, among others) to illustrate part of why the narrative you're repeating isn't even remotely supportable:

Your assertion was that "the first paragraph of her wiki page lists umpteen legislative and initiative achievements." That is false. And it's rather embarrassing to make a blunder like that then bluster about anyone else's "reading comprehension."
