Trump goes on another racist rant about Somalis: "Ilhan Omar should be thrown the hell out of our country, and most of those people -- they have destroyed Minnesota. It's a hellhole right now. Those Somalians should be out of here. They have destroyed out country ... go back to your own country."

Like, the biggest issue for fairness in sport is that success is positively correlated with wealth, not because rich people are inherently better but because there are structural barriers to involvement in sports (participating, training, etc) if you are poor.

It's a lot closer than you think, and Carney is driving away the people who voted strategically to give him the win last time. Brace for a Con government with all their policies normalized for them.

Also notable that Carney's first big deal is with a provincial leader with a nearly infinite supply of incompetence, mendacity and cruelty. And he gave her literally everything she wanted, with nothing to show for it except for pissed off premiers in provinces where he actually gets votes. 5D chess

What we have witnessed tday in this new federal-Alberta agreement is a complete abandonment of core federal climate policy and a complete abdication to the MAGA-aligned govt of Alberta and to oil & gas corporations that send huge chunks their profits to the US.

The UAE has successfully used Canada to launder its image. With trade deals they ensure you won’t say anything about their human rights record or that they’re funding a genocide in Sudan 🇸🇩
During our visit last week, the UAE committed to invest $70 billion into Canada.

What we’d once consider a scandal is now just another day in Doug Ford’s Ontario.

A $16 orange juice once ended a political career. Today, government shrugs off allegations of a billion-dollar slush fund — the result of a decade of far-right impunity.

I think the NDP messaging on their vote is wildly disingenuous: No honesty about not wanting to go into an election without a leader or money, claiming they unequivocally voted against the budget while simultaneously explaining why they ensured enough abstentions for it pass, etc, etc.

There’s a fine line between finding a compromise to make parliament work, and compromising your values for political expediency. We’ll see what this is as details come out.
"Against what I had expected to say to you today, I'm going to vote yes—for the country, for the planet, and for my hope in the future," says Green Party Leader Elizabeth May, announcing that she will vote in favour of the minority Liberal government's budget.

Opposition MPs allowing the budget to pass out of fear the Libs might win a majority in a subsequent election by allowing the Libs to rule like they have a majority.
If the budget does fail that would be 100% on the Libs due to Carney's refusal to negotiate.
