youtube is rapidly being invaded by gen-ai videos and they're all terrible. if this trend continues then that's another subscription i can get rid of
johnnypi.bsky.social
oh man, the youtube still on the original bananaphone flash gives the whole thing away

🎵let me sleep on it, baby baby, let me sleep on it, let me sleep on it, i'll give you an answer in the morning🎵
-me, trying to convince my brain to give me a goddamn break

quickly learning that the fandom can turn very ugly very fast. do NOT besmirch a fellow's favorite dino
johnnypi.bsky.social
there's a subset of jurassic park fandom that only cares about the dinosaur fights, they know all the nicknames, they discuss matchups like it's fantasy wrestling, i find it very endearing

'found out about you' is a banger (is it a slapper when a tambourine's involved?)

ok, no consensus on Kate Capshaw's Chinese rendition of 'anything goes' in 'temple of doom' - might be a decent translation, or terrible, or specifically Shanghainese which would be impressive (or not), or Cantonese, probably not Mandarin, a tonal language might be mistranslated into song, etc.

voices matter. what you say matters. and i will never not believe that

I’ve been sitting with this the last few hours. It’s really hitting me just how fucking depraved you have to be to respond to an inquiry about an abducted child with a screenshot of a post on elon musk’s hellsite smearing this kid who has no ability to defend himself. It’s unfathomable.

i'm gonna say it. prompt engineering is magical thinking. if it requires a specific, unknown, untestable phrasing to produce a viable answer, it's not an effective method of producing viable answers

snakes are cool let's put them in charge

oh fuck i realized that for some of my principles i would never compromise and as a result i'd get merked by dr. manhattan

boss said it right in '92 "fuck the motherfuckin' feds"
johnnypi.bsky.social
christian skunk band right? i remember they were big, too, especially with the '90s ska overlap
johnnypi.bsky.social
i don't know shit about dancing or gene kelly, but every single clip i see is like 'there is no way a human being can move like that'
dieworkwear.bsky.social
gene kelly is antifa

hung out with a bunch of presbyterians in the '90s and they were all into newsboys and jars of clay and flyleaf and third day and what happened to all of that?

we should normalize becoming artists later in life. i want to get a ticket to the local dad garage band, they could have real talent

sometimes i talk and talk and wonder 'do i know what the fuck i'm talking about? or even trying to say?' and then i envy the hell out of people who never seem to worry about that
johnnypi.bsky.social
what they want is death and destruction without being affected, they want everything to crumble b/c in their minds they are special and will be protected
johnnypi.bsky.social
...and even that has appeal for humans. i think everyone at one point has felt 'fuck it' to all of society's rules and thought about 'breaking bad' or going 'falling down' or 'horns' - but those are not stories that work out well for their protagonists

thinking about what draws people to fascism. one piece i think is that proto-fascism, at least, promised excitement. it was modern. it was thrilling. it was trains and airplanes and blood and thunder. but wrapped up in that was a complete indifference to humanity, to suffering, to compassion...

one bit of advice. if you go to see a stage show that features lots of stage blood spraying on the audience and you see someone coming over to spray it on you remember that you might be laughing and your mouth is open

haven't listened to dmb 'before these crowded streets' in a while. had it on shuffle and immediately went 'what?' when it went from 'panatala naga pampa' to 'halloween'. i'm so used to hearing it in a specific order it's just not the same album if i don't

at this moment it's Willie Nelson's cover of "Do You Realize?" by The Flaming Lips

I would also go see tv shows in theaters. imagine a packed house watching three eps of 30 rock together
