November 2, 1846. It started raining the night before. At first the Breens are happy. They suspect the rain will help melt the snow.

They have to move back into their wagons for the night as the cabin they found needs its roof patched.

In the morning they understand rain bad.

@helps.octranspo.com Para Transpo new 7 metre bus has an electrical ramp. The operator must go outside to operate the ramp. What is your solution then if there is an emergency and operator is unable to do their duty to get passengers out quickly?

November 1, 1846. Snow covers the grass near what will some day be called Donner Lake.

It is still 1000 feet away from the pass, but the first two groups have made it to the lake last night, using pine bows to feed the oxen. A small shanty even provides a bit if shelter...

Unfortunately, this homestretch happens to be the Sierra Nevada, already starting to refill the snowpack that gives the range its Spanish name.
