SO for reasons

I'm canvassing for some book comp titles for a project I'm working on which contains:
* high fantasy princess-in-a-tower m/f romance; distinct from other princess-in-a-tower stuff I have already written
* overt spicy on-page "yes-mistress" femdom

is there anything similar out there?

One of my first journalism professors would give you a zero if you had even one error of fact. It happened to me. Sucked so much. He was one of the best professors I ever had, I took three more classes from him, and we’re still in touch

Next novelette & novella have women casts: there's a man or two in each with talking parts, but the first three spots go to women.
Thinking of the few shows where women and their relationships to each other do the heavy lifting, where they toss the thematic weight between them in their interaction.

People I knew who were really excited by the possibilities and how it might take tedious tasks off their plate (like transcription) have soured at having it always forced on them, the impact on students, the lack of limitations in use, security holes it creates, how often it's wrong, and the ethics.
Three years into the generative-AI wave, demand for the technology seems surprisingly flimsy
Investors expect AI use to soar. That’s not happening
Recent surveys point to flatlining business adoption

this reminds me of the Bridgerton response and how people were so confused that the main characters *changed* after season one, like writing essays about why that was a bad choice

which seems like a logical thing to them, but an *insane* thing to say to anyone who understands genre romance.
but this? shut the fuck up. guess what, my man, gorgeous young 22 year olds like to fuck. And queer people deserve love stories that are sexy and horny. a "chaste kiss" please be for real.

Fun fact: none of my writing, audiobooks, or art uses generative AI.

Just thought I'd put that out there because while I don't enjoy talking about it, it's also increasingly apparent that we need to.

"In space, no one can hear you scream, and that's why we filmed on a soundstage instead"
Also, despite the movie's famous tagline, you might be surprised at how little of Alien was actually filmed in space.
Fun fact: For the movie Alien, they actually used a man in a practical suit because the studio was unable to afford a real Xenomorph.

A “shift to looser regulation is ‘likely to reduce the resilience of the banking sector to systemic market shocks.’”

A key lesson from 2008 was “heavily indebted banks lacked the equity capital to absorb large losses, leaving regulators [to let] banks fail or bail them out to protect depositors.”

It would be extremely cool if a bunch of people called payment processors over Black Friday weekend to ask why they're telling people what they can and can't buy with their own money. This holiday season, give the gift of calling payment processors over Black Friday weekend
Spoke with a source who told me the call volume is so high, a call center for both Mastercard & Visa is bringing out pizza and ice cream so agents don’t quite amid the rush. Long waits are causing dropped calls.

What you’re doing is working. Call MC & Visa.

All of which illustrates how infuriating it is when dipshits say that AI can 'help me to brainstorm ideas'. It can't do that. It can plaster a deepfake smile onto the corpse of zombie capitalism as it shambles towards the precipice of climate catastrophe, but it can't create meaningful literature.

You can't just write the book, you also have to buy food and pay the rent and look after your mental health. You can try to ignore these things in the service of your ART but you are very unlikely to flourish or succeed (unless, of course, you have inherited wealth or a spouse who earns millions)

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

Harry Connolly (@byharryconnolly.bsky.social) is one of my fave authors.

He needs $ help. harryjconnolly.com/17553-2/

For a good binge read, grab his completed epic fantasy trilogy The Great Way.

His "A Key, an Egg, an Unfortunate Remark" is the best standalone urban fantasy I've read.
