New Bluesky people! Especially #booksky! Do you remember this movie, perhaps with fond nostalgia, perhaps with cringe, or perhaps with both (c'est moi)? WELL-- it was based on a book, Divergent. I wrote it.

But that was FOURTEEN years ago! And since then, I have written OTHER THINGS! Like...

📚💙🪐
a woman is looking at a man with the words they call it divergent behind her
Alt: An East Asian woman, Maggie Q, says the phrase "They call it Divergent" (the text of which is in the bottom right corner of the gif), and then Shailene Woodley, a wide-eyed white girl stares at her in shock

I think I'm gonna have to start signing initials instead of my full author signature just to reduce strain on my wrist.

did a little high school nostalgia music hour last night, turns out the shared part of the venn diagram between me and my husband (who went to a small christian school) and me (big public school) is I Dare You to Move by Switchfoot (it was on the A Walk to Remember soundtrack)

someone on Threads tagged me into an argument about whether Divergent is better than X other very popular book which I guess means I have to burn my Threads down and start over

doesn't matter how many books I write, when I have to send the audio file of my pronunciations of made-up words, I cringe myself inside out

my husband's family are very sentimental people and being around them at holidays makes me feel like an alien in a human suit, performing nostalgia so as not to Destroy the Vibe

a couple weeks ago at an event for seek the traitor's son, I pitched people on Star Eater by @kerstinhall.bsky.social by declaring "CANNIBAL NUNS!"

and you know you're with good book people when a. this works on them and b. they all (ALL) tell you they're also reading books involving cannibalism

any time my husband and I watch a TV show I ask him who the "hottie" of the show is. He seems profoundly uninterested in this question, but I make him answer anyway. I'm not sure why I love this game so much, but I do. The answer is often surprising.

petition to start categorizing all conspiracy thrillers as fantasy because clearly reality is far stupider and more brazen than we even imagined
November 13, 2025 at 1:45 PM
Hey @adamchristopher.me how'd you do yesterday?
I wrote 3K but am probably going to start today by scrapping some of it. And I have accepted that #doneby1 is probably the best I can do cute hashtag wise.

Last time I went to the dentist I got three fillings and started to have a panic attack-- it wasn't the drill or anything, but they stuffed all that cotton and whatnot in my mouth and my nose started to get stuffy so the brain was like "am I going to suffocate" etc. which has NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE
