Absolutely lovely! Resonated with me on so many levels. Do keep writing, Claire.

1/2 Torturers also say this.
2/2 Different point. By this logic Vance himself should stop complaining all the time. Everything has been handed to him, and yet he’s a grievance machine.
Weaponized gratitude is a key tool in the abuser's toolkit. The goal is to convince the victim that they owe the abuser so much, they should feel guilty for wanting to complain.
Tweet from the VP:
Joy Reid has had such a good life in this country. It's been
overwhelmingly kind and gracious to her. She is far wealthier than most.
Yet she oozes with contempt.
My honest, non-trolling advice to Joy Reid is that you'd be a much
happier person if you showed a little gratitude

This just a few weeks after many of Robinson’s supporters were doing Nazi salutes and shouting Nazi slogans at his march in London. Absolutely insane stuff.
This Israeli government decision to host Tommy Robinson will widen the growing gulf between the Netanyahu government and the British public, including the broad majority of Jews in Britain (3/4 of whom dsapproved of Netanyahu, before this new link to this anti-Muslim racist UK far right convict).

Can someone ask Farage or Zia Yusuf why, if they're so concerned about incitement to violence, they had Lucy Connolly as a guest star at their conference?
Having looked at the Daily Mail, we can see that Farage and media allies saw this day coming and had their lines prepared.
Which does not make any of them true or even reasonable opinions.
Good to see them being called out, but this needs to be sustained for *years* if necessary.
If Farage doesn't hate modern Britain, then perhaps someone could provide one single good thing he's ever said about it.
Lovely piece
😮 “There are dozens, possibly hundreds, of different sorts of galls on oak trees. In Britain alone, more than 70 species of gall wasps are responsible, and each one creates a distinct structure.”

Most ironic name for an animal. Nothing sweet about a honey badger! But he has a thick skin, can metabolise snake bites and ignore thousands of stings. Hope you do too.

I don’t love the “feud” framing, as much as I do appreciate the mayor standing up to Trump. Sadiq Khan is not feuding with anyone. He was the target of a vicious, racist attack and is standing up for himself and others.

Thalidomide was not approved by the FDA. In the UK, the Thalidomide debacle led to the creation of the medicines act and setting of standards for evidence and review of risks and benefits of medicines. The case he's citing is exactly why experts approve drugs, not politicians and journalists.
Happy equinox to all who take pleasure in tracking the earth’s movement through space and time!
It’s like he’s always speaking to Homer Simpson.
I suspect it’s more to head off Tommy Robinson chewing into their more extreme supporters, or possibly just to show potential American backers that they are the right sort of immigration hawks.
I think we may find that the media commitment to Reform, immigration hatred and the rehabilitation of Tommy Robinson intensified significantly after J D Vance ‘visited the Cotswolds’.
For 56 minutes Sky News and BBC News interrupted everything else and carried a Reform UK feed live, uninterrupted, unchallenged. The stream spluttered, froze, pixelated - dozens of times - still they stuck with it. FOR ONE HOUR.

This is an editorial choice. No other party gets this coverage. ~AA
