This makes sense. For me education conversations on twitter and the blogging ecosystem were formative. I still miss it. I think teacher unions/associations should step in and provide an open space for those conversations. It's crucial for individual and collective teacher agency.
1. Reasons for the collapse of the Great Edu Conversation.
First important to acknowledge the whole thing was very unlikely. People writing essays about their jobs for free on the internet and engaging in deep conversations about other people's essays. So always fragile.
And then..

Also beth leaping shelf to shelf to find stuff isn't a feature not a bug. This models enthusiasm and passion. That's compelling!
The vast majority of the research my kids do in art is with the stacks of books we've got. I spend a lot of time leaping over to the shelf to show them similar ideas and make connections. Web research inevitably gives the same top images, but books cover so much more and they bank stuff for later.

Ed tech and the best lesson I taught this year.
The best Ed tech in the world for my subject is a book.
It is the ideal delivery method because the effort of concentrating on it helps people learn what's in it.

2. The next best Ed tech for my subject after a book is visualiser because this allows me to show more books to children without having to photocopy a lot.

I read the article and still don't really understand the kind of thing we're talking about (Sparx maths?).

My hunch is tech will be more useful for back office functions (timetabling, data analysis) than classroom facing.

I can see tech tails wagging curriculum and pedagogy dogs.

On this is becoming an Apple Educator or Google Guru or whatever still a thing? That was so weird. Teachers vying for the approval of billion dollar corporations.
No. If you want to buddy up to big tech do it with your own people. Leave the kids I'm responsible for alone.
The government recently invited schools to become 'edtech testbeds'. Kristy Evers explains what they are, and how they can be run successfully for everyone involved

Stuff about Trump getting low approval ratings is outdated reporting. He's abandoned the old idea of a US president being the leader of all Americans. Now it's a war. As long as enough like him to keep him in power he doesn't care. He'll attack those who don't like him to please his supporters.
