It's stalling isn't it? First because people don't like it. They find it weird and uncanny. Secondly it doesn't do many things things actual people find useful. It feels like it's going to be very driverless cars: always here soon, never here.

"The AI Revolution has started" declares a lady on LinkedIn. "Welcome to the AI Age. How does that make you feel?"

It makes me feel that people who have invested an awful lot of money in a very dodgy and unethical technology are starting worry that 'Fetch' simply won't happen.

It was literally this tone. Sort of (sniffs) "well if you aren't too much of a lazy capitalist it isn't that hard to get some wool and devote yourself to learning but if you just want to buy more stuff go ahead."

My favourite moment has been asking for advice on a scratchy wool jumper and being told to find a softer fabric, learn to knit and knit another. This was a serious suggestion.

Next time somebody asks me what Bluesky is like, I'll send them this

Ok I'm going to join you here and say I hate it too and actually find it quite cynical. As in it's too truthy to be remotely useful but appears as if it is.

Seeing stuff about IQ being affected by schooling and wondering if a helpful principle is "humans are hugely adaptable. They will change according to their environment."
I know there are limits to this but this might avoid fatalism and sense who and what you are is fixed.

It's a self report again?
bennewmark.bsky.social
Anecdotally yes. I find there is a concern of parents that these children are "flying under the radar." A sense those are the top and bottom get help but those in the middle don't. I also find some parents think their child should be top and think the reason they aren't is because of an unmet need.

Can you give an example of a successful safe and neuro affirming mainstream school? I'd like to know more about what this looks like.

The White Hare.
A Willerby Story.
It isn't safe to hunt in Willerby.

My most charitable interpretation is Lewis wanted to show how its possible to fall out of faith but it feels tacked on and implausible. An uncharacteristic misstep.

Oh I should do this too. I loved them. And the line between the reality and the fantasies of the children, that I think begins with Peter Duck?, makes the later ones pleasingly mysterious.

The Susan Problem is an actual thing in fantasy writing now. Which I don't think is a bad thing.

But dt gives us the best entry into Narnia.. well at least joint first.

Dt also gives us Reepicheep.

Yes. I think maybe I've been unfair putting it so low. I'm now remembering it has the two most likeable our world characters too, after Edmund who is the best.

Childhood. But am reading them all the way through again with my girls. We're on ltwatw but will then do magician nephew and go chronological from then I think.

Silver Chair sticks with me because of what aslan teaches Jill and all of us about why it's unwise to snoop on our friends.

I am willing to concede the call here is marginal.
