I completely agree. But, I’m actually assuming SOME form of assurance must have been given, or they’d never release all the hostages. Everything is perilous, fraught with risk. It probably won’t work, but we should avoid giving Netanyahu’s ghastly mob any easy excuses to wriggle out of the deal.

With good reason. I don’t trust Netanyahu at all. But, I don’t think Hamas can stay in power. Nothing will ever change, as long as they cling on.

Very very slim. Wafer thin. I don’t trust him and his right wing supporters at all. But, Hamas shouldn’t make it easy for them - we have to try to hold both sides feet to the fire.

MAE SOT, Thailand (AP) - Mohammed Taher clutched the lifeless body of his 2-year-old son and wept. Ever since his family's food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.
On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."

I do genuinely worry about that, once the hostages have been released. But, I assume Hamas must have received enough assurances to trust the process. Otherwise, they’d never have agreed. Fingers crossed; it’s a tightrope.
