Wasp enthusiast and deeply interested in behavioural economics.

Perception or reality Q - it feels like there are less and less jobs in the UK education market based around school improvement and system leadership. Is this a symptom of tightening belts or am I just looking at the wrong websites?!?

I'm not sure this is as revolutionary as it's suggesting it is. Coherent and effective emotional literacy teaching has been fundamental in decent schools, probably forever.

Not sure this was a hit the first time round but an excellent track. I'm enjoying these even if no one else does.

Well I think fundamentally - and boringly pragmatic - I can't imagine anything worse than mince pie crisps.

I feel like this might be the worst crisps ever conceived.

@nickofferman.bsky.social identifying issues in society and the way we educate. 'Stolen jobs' isn't the same as not being a able/willing to do the jobs available.
The loss of civic society is compounded by the loss of moral fortitude in hard work a vision and value rarely espoused in schools now.

The idea of 'better' in itself is wildly problematic. Better by whose metric and what does that mean. It's such an interesting topic that I don't think there is really a clean answer to.

"Waiting for Beddo" - jokes aside - not fun best wishes.

I think you are 100% right in the correct circumstances this could be hugely effective and supportive. Just needs a measure of oversight/governance.

Yeah totally and the frosty pint on Thursday morning looks like a life well lived. Just thinking of the situation where parents take the money and use it on the vast array of charlatans in SEND and that becomes a predatory industry or use the money for various 'cures'.
October 14, 2025 at 8:09 AM
Errrrr maybe we have had different experiences but there's a bit of an issue with that and the misuse of public funds. Does it work in Australia?
October 14, 2025 at 7:24 AM
It's a really interesting idea - I guess it's extremely difficult to make generalised views of the efficacy though. Some parents are well informed and capable some want things that are absolutely insane.

There would need to be very very very clear guidance and enforcement of how the money was used
October 14, 2025 at 6:34 AM
It's an interesting idea - it might make happier families but how would it improve things for the children?

Might have unintended consequences around financial misuse or exploitation.

Sorry if I'm being dense and missing an obvious upside.
