If you think that professors exist as repositories of knowledge that students ask for answers, you’re missing the entire point of a college education.

We’re here to teach students how to do research, how to analyze and argue, how to think for themselves — how to find the answers on their own.
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."

Another PS5 controller bites the dust. I’ve never seen a less reliable piece of hardware in 40 years of gaming and I survived the scourge of beat-to-hell Intellivision controller slips.
If they’re not looking at Leto as a reason for its disappointing numbers, they’re more delusional than I thought. TRON is a niche IP. Putting a disliked actor with a track record of massive flops into a niche IP guarantees you’ve limited your audience to that niche. Just dumb on top of dumb.
Anna Falci.

Dellamorte Dellamore made me the Italian horror lunatic I am today. A real gateway drug.
Seeing Brotherhood in the theater was almost certainly the first time I saw her. Irreparably altered after that experience. Kinda like when I saw Dellamorte Dellamore in the theater just because it was some Italian zombie movie. We learn things.
One would think academic institutions — above all others — would fiercely protect their long-term reputations by sacrificing short-term gains. The capitulation has been disgusting.
The more that step forward the less risky it should seem to the universities on this list. For every university that stands up, refuses to play ball, his perceived power shrinks. That said, I’m still fearful that my alma mater will get targeted in subsequent rounds of “let’s make a (bad) deal"

It was such a pleasure to write the essay for Criterion's 4K+Blu Ray of CAPTAIN BLOOD, a movie I dearly love. And for friends who love commentaries, note that this has one from Curtiz biographer (and fount of knowledge) Alan K. Rode @thetallcinephile.bsky.social www.criterion.com/films/29013-...

1. This is a cool local business selling original designs.

2. Proceeds go to a good cause.

3. This makes me wonder if Abolish ICE will finally make a serious run in the city’s snowplow naming contest this year.

And that’s why I like THIS one. Excellent choice. BUT THE SOCCER SCENE IS STILL DUMB.
NONE OF THESE MOVIES WERE MADE IN EUROPE, ALLAN.
Listen, I like the movie — this is the best you can expect from me as you force me to watch slasher movies, none of which were made in Europe.
Right. A player can run down the center of the field straight into the camera, never pass and score goals. The defenders — all 10 of them — are barely entering frame.

Just watched the Drew Struzan documentary on Kanopy.

One of the best to ever do it was also one of the most humble. And I love the awe he inspired in legends like Lucas, Spielberg, and Del Toro.

Made in 2013, but very much a valedictory for both the man and his craft. Timely and touching. #FilmSky
A behind the scenes frame w/ George Lucas and Drew Struzan from Erik Sharkey's DREW: THE MAN BEHIND THE POSTER (2013).
Ahhhh. Then there’s no excuse for its awfulness. Got it.
This “soccer” scene has to be among the worst ever captured on film — and that’s saying a lot considering how dumb Americans were (and continue to be) about the game in the 80’s.

The caffeine in coffee is generally 3x higher (perhaps more in a lighter roast) than a black tea, but I still assumed the tea would offset the headaches, maintain my focus — but I was pretty miserable. 😂
