One of my favorite parts of this is how you can watch Zendaya fall in love with him in real time.

It’s funny how the old media depiction of Nazis was always that they’re evil but dignified gentleman and now they’re openly just like “Hello. I’m the Anime Pedophile”

This is cool after the war on everything called “porn” by platforms and payment processors. A machine that stole all your words can generate and sell “erotica” but you can’t haaa

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

"What about that guy the New York Times wrote about? I've never heard of him before today."

"Oh yeah, he said that MLK was an awful person and believed that doctors offering gender affirming care should be given a 'Nuremberg-style' trial."

"Well... the article didn't mention any of that."

That's honestly been one of the hardest parts of explaining things to my normie center family. They haven't even heard of most of the culture war figures, and when I end explaining their actual stated views I sound so deranged it feels like I'm slandering someone.

If remember hearing the reason this section is so odd is because Mike Pondsmith knew some folks who died of overdoses, which ended up putting a strong influence on his design. Still, not a great choice for making mechanics anyone would want to engage with.

Sometimes it feels like every culture writer is still living in the 90s, breathlessly confused as to why I don't care about Marilyn Monroe, JFK, or either of the Clintons.

Following up to add that I feel like in the Underhive, male Eschers carry a special reputation in the vein of "Be careful around them, if those girls let him in, he has to be a monster."

really good articulation. I’ve been spending time recently playing the Sims with a bunch of mods in order to experiment with surfacing these machine-reasons: I don’t want the weird little guys’ behavior to be more understandable, but I want to make it more *observable*, & that’s been very satisfying

a central principle—maybe THE central principle—in each of these is: sometimes you won't understand what the weird little guys do, and they'll do it for a machine-reason that you can only feel the edges of. but you will enjoy it when they do it

Why pick one?

- Always spoke with admiration about his own dad
- Sends me articles that remind him of me (probably too many)
- Pushed for my brother and I to have every advantage he could find
- Cut ties with the members of his own family that didn't accept my Aunt Suzanne for being a lesbian

Christopher Columbus was dragged back to Spain in chains by a crusading knight, convicted of tyranny and immeasurable cruelty, pardoned by Isabella but banned from returning to Hispaniola.

Fuck Columbus.

For voice training we have to come up with a list of 'everyday phrases' to practice, and it's taking everything in my power to not just show up with:

"Shake and bake, baby!"
"Someone shut him up."
"It's chili dog time!"
"Get ready to floor it."
"6 personal pizzas."
"Black coffee, hold the gravy."

I'm out, and it feels way better than being in the closet. Still, being out isn't just about me. It's about being the example I wish I'd had earlier in my life.

It's always been a scary time to be queer, but every one of us who's out make it a little less so. (8/8)

(A brief aside: YEAH teenage Luther, most teen boys DEFINITELY cried themselves to sleep because they couldn't wear a dress to prom. Nice job. Incredible reasoning. Collect your prize at the door.)

For several in my circle, knowing me has given them freedom to examine themselves more closely. Many queer kids spend their early years telling themselves "everyone feels like this... right? I don't need to make a big deal about it."

For them, queerness is something that happens elsewhere. (7/?)

Being more public with my transition has been fascinating, because for many people in my life I'm the first openly trans person they've known personally. I can watch my existence become mundane to them in real time. My aunt and I both take Estradiol. (6/?)

What's happened afterwards has been what matters. I no longer have an excuse to hide.

I can just say what's been going on with me. I can make jokes with my 70 year old Dad about how much time we both spend getting our blood drawn. I can wear makeup and do my hair before we go somewhere nice. (5/?)
