Mary Linwood (1755–1845) was an English textile artist who exhibited her embroidery in Leicester and London.
In 1790, she received a medal from the Society of Arts.
The Mary Linwood Comprehensive School was named in her honour.
Here, an embroidery (!) self-portrait, c. 1785.
And Tigress, c. 1798.

An oval shape, very original self-portrait, with very realistic embroidery. The artist is a young white woman with brown curly hair looking at herself, next to a balcony or window. There are strokes of clear blue sky. She has a richly detailed white lace dress. She seems nostalgic.

Another incredibly realistic embroidery depiction of a tigress, resting on a natural wilderness setting. There is a lot of detail on the depiction of her muscles and her paws, and the only unrealistic feature are her eyes, that are a bit bigger and sad. Maybe her pups were taken away by British colonisers, very common in her days. The colours on the background are muted, giving her focus.

This and the incident at our city library where patrons and staff were abandoned by the Gardaí who simply walked off and left them to face the violent transphobe fash. The staff had to barricade the doors to keep them out. The mayor tried to get an explanation from Gardaí and ministers but never did

I think regularly about the far right lads getting a Garda escort into a library to harass staff. Never been explained. But sure how can that be explained in a way that doesn't suggest the very worst.

The Gardaí were totally unwilling to intervene with the Citywest rioters because they weren't Mother's against genocide having a peaceful candle lit vigil or peaceful Debenhams picketers so they just ignored them like so many unanswered domestic abuse calls.
