Short of that we’re just continuing an alternating slow/fast descent into a far right takeover, right after the country’s far right has gone absolutely bonkers and killed off their ability to govern in any normal way.

Any course correction that could save us from the after effects of another trump admin, congress’ situation over the past 20 years and the SCOTUS would look indistinguishable from a complete break from what makes up the fedgov right now. At best someone might be able to dress it up as normal-ish.

I think we, as a people, will make it but I think we’re watching the end of the federal us govt in real time. Even if some group of people who are sane and interested in good governance manage to take power anytime soon they’re just going to be catching a falling knife we tossed in the air in 2024
