(Once upon a time Elisa and I tried to have a podcast called Monster Girls that was ostensibly about horror through a feminist lens but mostly just us watching horror movies and then talking about them for an hour and a half, and this made me want to revive that)
We only had one really substantive gripe about a production element; the writing and direction are tight, smart, and surprising.

Recommended for: former DONNIE DARKO teens and true crime girlies.
HAPPY SCREEPY SEASON. Last night we watched 2016's I AM NOT A SERIAL KILLER and it's frankly a nearly perfect movie??? Those exist??? Please go watch this immediately, Christopher Lloyd and Max Records are both AMAZING in it.

Throwback to the time i wrote a joke "one-page game" called HOBBYJOB RPG: YOUR HOBBY IS YOUR JOB in an effort to capture the vibe of the freelancer/self employed lifestyle

Download Krita for free and just start making.

This is how I've been teaching myself digital art and hoo buddy, I have learned so much so fast.

(Also there are other open source/free softwares out there for all kinds of things!)
"but art should be accessible" it is, you can learn to draw, paint, collage, sculpt, make pixels. right now, starting today. art has never been more accessible monetarily nor physically than it is now in this age. access to artist labor and machine production is not an accessibility issue.

Every time there’s litfic vs genre discourse I remember that writing was invented by Sumerians to track beer inventory and I head to the fridge.
Comedy: Much Ado and Twelfth Night are gonna have to have a cage fight for my heart, here.

Tragedy: how can I say anything but Hamlet? I love MacB, I love R&J, I love Othello, but ... my boy.

One of the most iconic videos I’ve ever filmedβ€”stepping outside our cabin in Venetie, Alaska and seeing an auroral substorm occurring directly overhead. This was a legendary view.

Alaska landscape woodblock print by Sumio Kawakami (1895-1972). Born in Yokohama, he spent part of 1917 to 1918 working in America and Canada, including at an Alaska cannery, before returning to Japan. From a reprint of his Alaska Story collection. #alaskahistory #alaska
I DO regret that nobody ever mentioned what a complete piece of garbage Antonio is! All I ever heard is that he and Bassanio are kinda gay, which is true, but CHRIST does Antonio suck. Every single time he is given an opportunity to make a choice he goes for the worst one.
Listen, you all know, I love Shakespeare, but holy shit I have never read one of his plays where I disliked every single "good guy" as much as The Merchant of Venice. ice-cold take but this play is skin-crawling. I don't regret putting off reading it for so long!

Thank you for all the suggestions for attracting more hot men to the National Trust. My favourite so far was getting Hot Priest to come and hide out in some of our priest holes. If anyone knows Andrew Scott please can you raise the idea with him - just casually.
Customer feedback this week;

β€˜Please can you get some more diversity at the National Trust by encouraging more hot men to visit.’

Ideas for how we do this v welcome. Nothing too racy please - we are the National Trust not the National Tryst.
I have seen multiple people biking up Virginia from Pike Place today and it scares the shit out of me every time. This is a steep hill! It is cobblestones! Please don't die!!
I’ve put a task titled β€œThe Beguine” into my teams jira backlog in To Do. Now we wait.

The movies don't really get into it, but it's worth remembering that Denethor went crazy because he spent too much time doomscrolling on the PalantΓr and it cooked his brain
Anyway, @jordyrosenberg.bsky.social's CONFESSIONS OF THE FOX hits so many notes historical, fictional, and queerical that I've been fascinated by since high school that I had to see if we were in the same 18th cen. social deviance class together at Carnegie Mellon. (afaict we were not)
You know when you come across a piece of media so perfectly tailored to your interests and tastes that you're not sure you haven't found a version of yourself from an alternate universe?
🎢Yeah, it's such a waste of time
Ah,

πŸ“£BROOKLYN!!

Frankly it might just be "I and Love and You" but with every instance of "Brooklyn" replaced by the Beastie Boys
