Ooh, what if the Rapture actually does involve raptors?
'Rapture' comes from the Latin 'rapere' meaning "to seize and carry off."

'Raptor' also comes from 'rapere.'

We hope neither carries you off today.

Goddamm A.i. fraudsters.
For anyone who got a notification that I've written a dark romantasy trilogy (this is book 1) - I haven't. Please don't buy any of them.

These books are AI generated &
Amazon should be removing them today.

For anyone who may have bought one, I hope you can get a refund from Amazon.

Facebook has just offered me this "inspiring quote": "“It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.”

The (alleged) source of the quote could literally not be more ironic.

Thing is, it feels on Bluesky like EVERYONE knows about this Unbound scandal now. But they don't. In the grand scheme of things - the grand scheme of UK book lovers, even - what this publisher has done to its authors is still relatively little-known. Coverage like this is an important step.
I was invited onto BBC Radio 4's You And Yours today to talk about Unbound, who owe me and their other authors around £650,000 in total, which is not even taking into account the readers they have refused to refund. You can listen to it here (begins around 19 mins in): www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

UNBOUND AUTHORS: We’ve prepared a letter you can send to administrators to demand things like expedited rights reversion, no AI use, return of electronic files (cover art, typesetting, etc) and the option to get any remaining copies of your books. DM me and I will send the template over

Pff.
A statement on my having left Unbound/Boundless.

Thread.
So, I think it's time I begin, in detailed specifics, talking about the mess that is Unbound / Boundless as a book publisher, in essence stealing most of a years royalties from me and many other authors, as a result of poor financial decisions, and legal BS.

Please read and share this thread.

Unbelievable. (Except sadly not, because people.)
Hard yikes
So that now makes Lena McDonald, KC Crowne and Rania Faris leaving ChatGPT prompts in their ‘books’.

I’m so fucking tired, guys. If you don’t write, you’re not a writer. It’s that simple. Stop doing this to your readers, who PAY.

Readers and authors deserve better than this. 📚💙

In the last four months I have written 46k on an EXCITING NEW STORY. After nine goddamn years of writer's block I cannot express how huge this number of words is and how happy I am to be properly writing again!
(Yes, I know 9 years is an unbelievably long writer's block. Yes, I did try everything.)

For Blue Monday we can't think of anything more appropriate than this charming depiction of a man getting his face eaten off by a leopard.

So Unbound not only haven't paid their authors, but have withheld pension contributions from their actual employees. This just gets worse and worse.
An ex-employee has DMed me with some info from them - at the end of 2024, they discovered that five months’ worth of pension payments were missing from their workplace pensions. Apparently this was true for all Unbound staff. Not just the company contributions but also contribs from pay packets.

Accidentally mistyped my own name into an online form. Now I'm getting emails beginning "Dear Imagen" and every time I'm just as offended as if it wasn't my own damn fault.

Useful thread on "A.I".
One of the most common arguments you hear from fans of generative ‘AI’ is that it’s not plagiarizing people’s work, it’s just learning like a human learns. So I’m going to break down why that’s just not true, and why it can never be true, with the existing systems. 1/

Your reminder that software developers are selling generative AI on the economic model of a primary school cake sale. Other people provide the essential ingredients at their own expense, and do the crucial work unpaid, while the sellers of the end product keep all the income.
AI is profiting from human creativity – isn’t it time creators got their fair share?

A fair deal for creators isn’t just about making things right, it is essential for the future of creativity and AI.
