Great fun talking with @stewarthotston.com as always.

Have you read Project Hanuman yet?
Robin & Dave dress up as writers to chat to @stewarthotston.com on his new novel Project Hanuman, LARP, bookshelves, book recs, BSFA & more. Importantly we cover topics needing discussion like why SF authors write about politics & what happens if we don’t.

No.
We are now further away from the theatrical release of Raiders of the Lost Ark (June 12, 1981) than it was from the year it takes place in (1936). We have reached the Indiana Jones event horizon.

I absolutely adored #amreading "Magic, Maps, and Mischief" by @davidgreenwriter.bsky.social.

All I want to do now is have a cup of tea, look at maps, and think about My Heart's Desire (and pet an owl, hang out with my friends, and go to a bookstore).

#books 💙📚

Things have been a bit up and down lately - and pretty uncertain and weird - but an editor at one of the leading US publishers said this about me this week:

"I think David is an incredibly talented and moving writer; I was brought to tears numerous times while reading!"

Which is really awesome 😊

Hey, hit me up when Oprah wants to read *your* book...

Have to hand it to these scammers, they're getting more and more creative 🤣

Idea for a new horror novel:

We follow the protagonist, a writer, who is trying to get traditionally published. Existential and psychological terror ensues.

Working title for one of my next books (yes, next BOOKS. Can't quite decide on the next project and things might change on that front!).

Can you take a guess at the subgenres for 'Deep Into That Darkness Peering'?

From a review of Magic, Maps, and Mischief.

Yes, I have an agenda. It's to make marginalised people feel welcome and included however I can.

Today I saw someone arguing on a Lord of the Rings Reddit that Tolkien would have "appreciated" AI.

I was once told that this book - Magic, Maps, and Mischief - written by an autistic person about the autistic experience, did nothing new.

I didn't agree, and put it down to people judging worth differently.

1,600 sales later since October 24th, I'm glad people agree with me ❤️

Books like Alan Wake II 😁

I saw @kaylaallen1965.bsky.social post this on Farcebook, and it is kind of my job to do this sort of thing. Please do check the thread to see if a question has been answered before asking it.

Just to clarify - and everyone engaging with this has been lovely - but my main issue with this is marketing the book from a place of "this is against all the things you HATE about X".

Romantasy writers and readers are great. Other stories are, too. Romance is a part of nearly EVERY story.
This week, I was sent a proof from one of the big publishers. In their pack, they described it as an "anti romantasy".

An anti romantasy.

I have so many thoughts about this, I honestly don't know where to begin.
