The dance must go on, or else the night ends. This contract, regardless of the absurdity of its parameters, binds them, and in turn, holds Baizhu’s sanity in its place.

After Zhongli came back from his sudden and unforeseen disappearance, Baizhu proposed an arrangement in which the two of them would only be allowed to hold each other on the dance floor, and nowhere else.

It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. I seriously have no words to defend them with, to be honest. What I can say though, is that despite their abrasiveness towards each other sometimes, they cared deeply for each other.

LGBT+ marriages weren’t widely acknowledged nor legalized yet back then, so Oikawa’s main concern was that Iwaizumi would slowly resent him the longer they were engaged, because he would keep it a secret to keep his career healthy. They could still technically get married regardless—the antagonists here were the big-name sponsors who liked to pay lip service to allyship but would subtly give their LGBT+ champions worse pay, and not the fans who would have Oikawa's back no matter what happened—but Oikawa brought up another concern: how he might be getting in the way of Iwaizumi’s wish to live the ideal married life. Oikawa just became an Argentinian citizen, Iwaizumi still lived in California, and neither of them had plans of settling down in one place anytime soon. Oikawa's volleyball career was far from over, and marriage was not in the forefront of his mind, unlike it had been in Iwaizumi’s.

Summary:
Oikawa provoked Iwaizumi-san to swing first. He grazed Oikawa-san on the cheek sloppily, missing his jaw. Oikawa-san sent a weaker punch back, a poor excuse of an uppercut that didn't even touch Iwaizumi-san's chin. It was then that Iwaizumi-san caught Oikawa-san by the wrist and held him in place so he could go at the jaw again, a blow that finally landed. Oikawa-san fought back by grabbing Iwaizumi-san's hair and pulling hard before throwing another punch.

Following the 2024 Olympics, a famous volleyball player and an athletic trainer punching each other got caught on camera, and videos showing different angles of the altercation went viral. Fifteen years later the pair’s friends finally share the entire story.
