The movies don't really get into it, but it's worth remembering that Denethor went crazy because he spent too much time doomscrolling on the Palantír and it cooked his brain
Took advantage of that @bookshop.org sale last week and loookkkkk at what came today! Thinking of doing an immediate reread, completely obsessed with this series and need to dissect it and maybe publicly spiral about it

1. Scam alert thread! 🧵

Watch out for out-of- the-blue emails from supposed marketing experts claiming they just happened on your book & are eager to promote it. This is something I'm seeing more and more of. Marketing scams aren't new, but this is a new twist.

Sure picked the wrong century to work a job that requires an attention span.
I literally finished this book last night and cannot recommend it any higher (i had some WILD dreams as a result let me tell you). Congrats on a well deserved win 👏
so moved to learn BURY YOUR GAYS has won the @locusmag.bsky.social award for BEST HORROR NOVEL of the year. thank you to locus and to the wildly talented authors who were nominated with me. being your peer would be enough, and in the grand mess of timelines im still in awe to trot with you all
The Hollow Places was my fave, even if I accidentally chucked my phone at one point 😅
suchhhh a great author, i've read so many of her standalone works too now (her contemporary horror novels are really worth a read and i continue to be in awe of how well she writes across genres)
unfortunately no, i've requested copies through my library for now. but i have a feeling i'll get impatient and treat myself to a bookstore trip soon :)
oh yes, their friendship was lovely! and i was so intrigued by Brindle and the gnole culture, such an amazing addition to that universe. I think that's why i loved galen/piper's book so much, because of Earstripe
Everything i learned about the white rat folks just made me want to know more! Also Zale! I loved Zale!
Have you had a chance to read the prequel, Swordheart?
also i have never read about a religious order quite like the White Rat and i'm pretty sure I would also pledge service to them and bishop beartongue. I need more ppl to talk about this series with 😍

The paladins at the heart of the series are all spectacular in their own ways, struggling to cope after the death of their god. Each book also has a beautifully matched love interest (and dual POVs!) and well-crafted side characters.
fantasy series rec: The Saint of Steel series by @tkingfisher.com
Look, at this point, if t kingfisher writes it, i am reading it. The worldbuilding is masterful, intricate yet accessible in a way that makes for a perfect reading experience.

It’s bleak out there, but it’s heartening to know millions of people from all walks of life took the time to ruin one specific persons birthday, America’s hater spirit remains strong

there are so many ways to help. you can march in the street, you can volunteer, you can use art to urge others to do the same. you can CREATE spaces like an assembly auditorium full of cheering kids. today i am suggesting a donation. here is post of suggestions im trottin bsky.app/profile/chuc...
what is the best fund to support children or seperated families taken by ICE?
oh, no, thank you, we do not need to be giving money to plays* that will directly fund transphobia with the profits. (*obvi fill in any other official product in that universe bc yikes)

The first person to tell me I 'must be using AI because there are em dashes in my books' is going to get a lecture on punctuation and house style, followed by a practical demonstration of the word 'eviscerate'.
the em dash has grown in popularity over the last 20 years or so and is thus over represented in the data sets they trained the fraud machine on and now we are supposed to tell people to stop using them because they were finding them useful, it's idiocy all the way down
Dashes are very normal parts of written English and are "AI tells" mostly because they were left off default keyboard configurations and thus are annoying to type in casual writing relative to how often they're used in professional writing.
YES. Every element of the show was *perfect* like i cannot fathom the amount of effort put in.
Thank you!! I went a few nights ago and still reeling from the experience (and also a little sore bc i did not sit down for a single second)
